Smoky Mountain Farmers Co-op is seeking a motivated Agronomy / Outside Sales Specialist to join our team. This full-time role focuses on building strong relationships with local farmers and producers across our company footprint to provide tailored agronomic and farm supply solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agronomy and crop production with additional knowledge of livestock feed, equipment, and farm supplies. This position plays a key role in supporting producers through crop planning, soil fertility recommendations, and input sales, while promoting the full line of products and services offered by Smoky Mountain Farmers Cooperative. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Increase agronomy sales and profitability through fertilizer, seed, and crop protection products * Provide agronomic and technical support to producers, including soil fertility, pest management, and seed recommendations * Promote and sell livestock feed, equipment, and other farm supply products to meet customer needs * Develop and maintain strong relationships with farmers, ranchers, and ag businesses across Northeast Tennessee and Western North Carolina * Conduct on-farm visits, product demonstrations, and grower meetings * Identify customer needs and recommend customized solutions to improve productivity and profitability * Communicate and initiate SMFC agronomy programs and crop management services * Collaborate with in-store staff, coordinators, and management to ensure seamless customer service * Prepare sales presentations, bids, and proposals * Stay informed on current agronomy practices, industry trends, and competitive products * Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and agronomy service recommendations * Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while providing exceptional customer service * Maintain and promote a strong collaborative, positive, and safety-oriented culture QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Ag Business, or related field (preferred) * Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in agronomy, agricultural sales, or crop consulting * Strong knowledge of crop production, soil fertility, pest management, and seed technology * Familiarity with livestock operations, feed programs, and equipment (preferred) * Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills * Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet sales goals * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software * Valid driver's license and clean driving record * Ability to travel regularly throughout the sales territory, with occasional overnight stays EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQURIEMENTS: * Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Agronomy, Ag Business, Ag Sales, or a related field * Four to six years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred) * Outside sales experience including presentations, negotiation, customer service, and independent work * Knowledge of agricultural inputs, crop production systems, and farm supply products PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to freely move around customer's operations, equipment, and grounds. * Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. * Ability to repeatedly bend, crouch, kneel, stand, reach, grasp, crawl, walk, lift, push, pull, or climb. * Ability to operate all equipment safely and properly. * Ability to lift up-to 50 pounds.
