Full description of the position

A successful Sales and Proposal Engineer will market and sell the company's flat rolling mills and logistics systems across the NAFTA region. Key responsibilities include cultivating enduring customer relationships through modernization and upgrade partnerships, and generally representing the company's interests. This role involves a close collaboration with our engineering team to create detailed technical and commercial proposals for both new installations and system modernizations. This work requires a proactive, customer-focused sales approach to ensure the delivery of comprehensive solutions for flat rolling mills and their associated logistics systems. SMS group What you'll do * In conjunction with the Sales Managers, Engineering Department and Automation Department, determine which references will be used for equipment and for cost * Technical and commercial proposal writing and editing * Attends sales calls and sales functions, as required * Management / preparation of layout work for technical proposals * Project coordination with team members in the proposal stage * Coordination of engineering work for proposal preparation * Management of cost estimates for proposed project * Technical and commercial presentation of proposals to prospective customers * Technical presentation of SMS group to prospective customers * Contacts and coordination with main mechanical vendors for proposal purposes * Inter-departmental or inter-company contacts concerning proposals * Developing and executing marketing strategy for NAFTA region customers, including customer communications and visits * Identifying potential projects (new equipment and modernizations / upgrades), selecting appropriate technologies, and developing technical and commercial specifications * Customer support / liaison of the company's domestic references What you'll need * BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or Metallurgical degree required * Minimum 5 years' experience in engineering or technical sales working with rolling mill technology, rolling mill applications, and material handling / logistics within the mill * Rolling mill mechanical engineering or process design experience and competence a plus * Candidates must be self-motivated and display creativity, strong problem-solving skills, and work well in a diverse team environment * Excellent computer skills, with a strong emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint * Be willing to travel up to 20% of the time to support the sales opportunity for site investigation, proposal review meetings and entertainment with the customer * Strong aptitude to communicate and exercise effective interpersonal skills with excellent English oral and written communication skills What we offer Competitive compensation, medical/dental/vision coverage, paid vacation, paid holiday time, 401k with a company match, training, a tuition reimbursement program and more!
