Full description of the position

Job Description We are looking for an energetic Sales Manager to join our team. The Sales Manager is responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in his/her market segments. He/she is also responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues. The Sales Manager will work in conjunction with the General Manager to achieve the hotel's revenue and market share goals the property. The focus of sales may vary based on the respective property the associate is assigned to. Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. JOB SUMMARY Solicit business that enables the hotel to meet and/or exceed revenue goals in rooms, conference room, and food and beverage. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication within the assigned market segments. * Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance. . Respond to Hotel Planner and meeting broker. * Participate in daily Revenue meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required. . Meet and exceed your sales calls goals. * Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to guests. * Attend trade shows, CVB, community events and industry meetings. * Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers. * Develop and maintain rapport with key community contacts & vendors to ensure a visible presence in the community. * Be a leader and a role model to all employees. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive friendly courteous and service-oriented manner. * Maintain regular attendance in compliance with company policy. * Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include compliance with the company policy dress code and wearing name tag when working (per brand standards) * Comply at all times with the standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations. * Comply with certification requirements as applicable for position to include: Food Handlers Alcohol Awareness CPR & First Aid * Solicit assigned accounts to achieve or exceed budgeted rooms revenue and to improve performance in the marketplace. * Conducts sales specific to Business Travel and/or Groups as required by property. * Comply with attainment of individual goals * Make sales appointments and cold calls to consistently prospect accounts for all direct sales segments. Regularly contact existing accounts based on the tracing frequencies of the Accounts Coverage Program. * Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market. * Meet or exceed sales solicitation call goals as assigned by the GM. * Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment lunches tours and site inspections etc. * Assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments i.e. sales blitzes etc. * Attend and participate in Daily/Weekly Sales Meeting. * Attend monthly meetings of assigned professional organizations. * Participate in required M.O.D. and Saturday office coverage as scheduled. * Be familiar with all hotel sales policies and house rules. * Employees must at all times be attentive friendly helpful and courteous to guests other employees and managers. * Attend monthly all-employee meetings and any other functions required by management. * Meet and greet onsite contacts. * Abide by Prime Selling Time (PST). * Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market. * React to negative trends in market place by implementing blitzes or catering promotions. * Handle inquires as part of Inquiry Day Program. * Perform any other duties as requested by the General Manager or VP of Sales. SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel: * Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events. * Participate as team player with all departments. * Assist with reports and/or competition data collection. Job Requirements SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities: * Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. * Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. * Most tasks are performed independently or in a team environment with the employee acting as a team leader. * Must possess basic computer skills. * Hilton, IHG, or Marriott experience is highly desirable. * Hotel PMS knowledge is a plus. * Must have hotel sales management experience for at least 2 years. * Knowledge of hotels and competitive markets. * Ensure that guest satisfaction is consistently obtained and maintained. * Ability to make decisions with only general policies and procedures available for guidance. AVAILABILITY This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed work day, to include Holidays, or time of work if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determines the amount of hours that you work.
