Yes, Everything The Purple Store Sells is Purple The Purple Store sells over 1,800 purple things (clothes, furniture, jewelry, duct tape) online to customers all over the world and in our Pike Place Market storefront. We love our customers and have a work-hard but light-hearted attitude workplace. There's no ordinary day. And the work we do means a lot to the people who shop with us. We love our staff. We love working at a place where customers' eyes light up when the walk in the door and that routinely gets fan mail from its customers. If you like to work hard on projects, like to wear many hats and use different skills, understand that customers are our guests and friends, not our "targets," and are the kind of person who looks over your own shoulder to make sure the work is done well, please consider this position. For this position we'd like someone to * do order fulfillment to ensure all orders are shipped accurately and quickly * handle online customer service (mostly e-mail, some by phone) * help reorder products and know when things arrive * play a part in sourcing new items * receive new products in to our system when they arrive; organize stock * support storefront retail sales for some shifts as needed (you have to be really outgoing enough for this) * play a part in promoting the store, website, and brand * support and possibly contribute to our emailed newsletter * help write product descriptions and list new items (if you can take product pics, even better) This position usually involves 30-40 hrs /week. While this is not a seasonal job, you must be fully available during the summer and holiday rush seasons, please. It's fun work for those who would hope to stay a while and build a career with us. We're Looking For... ...smarts. ...natural organizational skills and attention to detail. ...mad work ethic to get things done. ...at least three years of work experience, preferably in an office, retail with online, or shipping setting (customer service, shipping, or retail sales experience are a plus). ... excellent English language writing skills and grammar for e-mails to our customers and suppliers. This is important. ...good computer skills ...reliability, 100% trustworthiness, and integrity. ...a cool head when things get busy. We strive for a drama free workplace. ...some retail skills or knack to learn them (including being great at selling; we are an active sales floor working with customers) ...complete comfort talking to a customer on the phone or in person. We are never pushy on sales but we want staff who are friendly, confident, and glad to greet customers. ...availability during the summer and winter holiday rushes (required), consistent availability including some weekend days (5 day schedule). ...great personality to get along with people and have fun while working hard. ...humility to realize that we're a small business and that means sometimes we're the ones sweeping up or taking out the recycling, moving boxes around, etc. ...ongoing availability (i.e. this is probably not right for full-time students or those moving away soon). Being a purple fan is nice but definitely not required. Job skills and awesome personality are important to us. Things to Know: - Schedule would be typically 4-5 days per week, about 7-8 hours, mostly weekdays, sometimes weekend days. - Availability during the summer (June through September) and holiday rushes (November through late December) is also very important. - Location: Pike Place Market right near light rail and tons of buses. 92 Stewart Street - It works out best for everyone with staff who live at least relatively close by. -------------------------------------- Timeframe: We are looking to bring new staff on in the next few weeks.
