Salary: $200k - 280k per year Reference: BizDevMI Civil Business Development Location: Metro Detroit / Tri-County Employment Type: Full-Time About the Company A respected civil contractor in Metro Detroit/Tri-County is expanding into larger, more complex projects. As they grow beyond the $35M-$50M range and expand self-perform capabilities, they're adding a Civil Business Development leader to support long-term growth. Position Overview The Civil Business Development Manager will identify, pursue, and secure major civil projects by leveraging strong relationships with large GCs. Target markets include K-12, higher education, municipal, commercial, utilities, earthwork, and site development. Ideal for someone entrepreneurial and relationship-driven. Key Responsibilities * Build and maintain relationships with owners, engineers, and industry partners. * Pursue new opportunities in heavy civil, utility, earthwork, and sitework. * Lead proposals, preconstruction efforts, and bid strategies. * Track market trends, competitor activity, and upcoming projects. * Support strategic planning as the company grows project size and self-perform crews. * Collaborate with estimating and operations on key pursuits. * Represent the company at industry events and pre-bid meetings. Qualifications * 5+ years of Business Development experience in heavy civil or related construction. * Strong relationships in Metro Detroit/Tri-County. * Experience securing large dirt, pipe, utility, or sitework projects. * Knowledge of K-12, university, municipal, or commercial civil markets. * Strong communication, networking, and presentation skills.
