Full description of the position

Datacom Business Development Specialist Job Summary The Datacom Business Development Specialist is responsible for driving growth in the data communications and connectivity market by identifying new business opportunities, building strategic relationships, and expanding existing customer partnerships. This role serves as a subject-matter expert in datacom solutions and works closely with sales, engineering, and vendor partners to deliver high-impact infrastructure solutions. Success in this role is measured by new account acquisition, revenue growth, pipeline development, and long-term customer retention. Essential Functions * Identify, develop, and grow new business opportunities in the datacom, networking, and connectivity markets * Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, integrators, end users, and vendor partners * Promote and sell datacom solutions including structured cabling, fiber, networking, wireless, and infrastructure systems * Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline and track opportunities through CRM systems * Conduct customer meetings, site visits, lunch-and-learns, and solution presentations * Partner with engineering and technical teams to design solutions and prepare bills of materials * Support project quoting, pricing strategy, and proposal development * Stay current on datacom technologies, industry trends, and competitive offerings * Collaborate with inside sales, purchasing, and operations teams to ensure successful project execution * Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and vendor programs * Follow all company sales policies, pricing guidelines, and compliance standards * Perform additional duties as assigned by sales leadership Required Skills & Competencies * Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills * Excellent communication and presentation abilities * Strong business development and prospecting capabilities * Strategic thinking with a growth-oriented mindset * Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities * Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn complex solutions * Self-motivated, results-driven, and accountable Education & Experience * High school diploma or equivalent required * Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or related field preferred * 3-5 years of experience in datacom, IT infrastructure, low-voltage, or technology solutions sales preferred * Valid driver's license with an approved motor vehicle record * No history of drug or alcohol abuse Physical Requirements * Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time * Ability to travel to customer sites, job sites, and industry events as required * Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 40 pounds * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams
