Spyglass Talent Solutions is a retained recruitment firm based in Raleigh, NC. Our firm has been engaged by an advanced manufacturing company to conduct a search for a proactive, technically adept Sales Engineer. The Sales Engineer will drive lead generation and business development efforts for the company's products across the Mid-Atlantic region. This role focuses on identifying early-stage project opportunities, building strong relationships with engineers, contractors, and distributors, among other channels, while partnering with our internal estimating team to deliver winning proposals. The Sales Engineer position is largely remote, but the individual must be able to travel throughout the territory across the Northeast Region, including Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, along Interstate 95. Responsibilities include: _External Sales & Lead Generation _ * Develop and execute outbound strategies to identify and engage potential customers in the early stages of project development. * Build strong relationships with mechanical contractors, engineers, GCs, and manufacturer reps to stay ahead of bid opportunities. * Attend networking events, trade shows, and client meetings to increase brand awareness and pipeline activity. * Qualify leads through project document review, discussions with stakeholders, and understanding of scope requirements. * Track regional construction and infrastructure developments, including education, military, district energy, education, health care, and industrial markets. Sales Engineering Collaboration * Review project specifications and mechanical drawings to understand scope and project requirements. * Coordinate with the internal estimating team to relay customer needs, scope clarifications, and competitive insights. * Ensure seamless handoff of leads to internal estimators and support proposal development where necessary. * Maintain communication with prospects through the bid process, offering updates and technical guidance. _Pipeline & Territory Management _ * Maintain detailed records of sales activities, project leads, and follow-ups using internal tracking tools. * Monitor sales metrics and provide regular reporting on lead status, market coverage, and activity levels. * Provide regional insights to help refine marketing and sales strategies. Qualifications: * Manufacturing or mechanical industry experience preferred but not required. * At least 1-2 years of experience in technical sales, business development, or estimating in the mechanical or construction sector preferred. * Familiarity with the region's market and customer base, including engineering firms and mechanical contractors, preferred. * Demonstrated success generating leads and developing relationships that result in project opportunities. * Comfortable working independently in a field-based role with minimal supervision. * Proficiency in CRM platforms, Excel, and document collaboration tools. * Associates or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred but not required. * The ability to be highly organized and to navigate competing priorities required. * The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a proactive, positive attitude.
