Provide protective and preventive services. Prevention is defined as prevention for out of home placement for children. The Protection Specialist will investigate allegations of abuse and neglect, perform risk and safety assessments, develop safety plans, provide information about referrals to community resources for at risk families, and make appropriate referrals to contracted family preservation and foster care providers. This position works in cooperative fashion with customers, staff, and agency partners to provide efficient and effective service. At DCF, the customer is placed at the center of planning, policy development, program implementation, and practice with customer outcomes driving decision-making at all levels. By integrating services, we create and maintain a prevention focus as a way of doing business by interacting and engaging with others to proactively foster well-being. Investigates customer's circumstances through the use of available computer information systems, research of records provided by customers, and community sources to gain adequate information to make eligibility decisions View the full position description: [please apply online] Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Four-year degree in a Human Services or Behavioral Sciences field of study, or education determined relevant by the agency. Valid Driver's License must be maintained throughout employment. _If degree is a requirement listed, a transcript showing proof of graduation or degree obtained must be emailed to Recruiter email address. Subject line must reference JOB ID so transcript can be reviewed with application._ Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's in Social Work (Licensed Social Worker), Master's in Professional Counseling (Licensed Professional Counselor), A minimum of 2-years of work experience in Children and Family Services. Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), Licensed Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) professional as determined relevant by the agency.. Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements : * Security Clearance: A background check (KBI - criminal background, welfare fraud, driver's license and Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry) is required for all positions with the Department for Children and Families (DCF) as a condition of employment, which may include fingerprinting and FBI check. Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment with DCF.
