Job Description A Gastroenterology Practice that provides exceptional and compassionate digestive care, that is looking for an experienced complex care Medical Assistant candidate that will support our purpose and scope of practice. Our physician's and staff are trained and have experience from the nation's top academic centers. Qualifications: Minimum 3 years' experience as a certified medical assistant, preferable in a specialty physician's clinic. GI experience very helpful. EHR documentation, excellent verbal communication skills, dependability, and teamwork essential. Job Duties: Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment. Has a strong background working with complex care patients and families. Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; performing specialty tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies. Educates patients by providing medication and diet information; procedures and testing instructions; answering questions. Provides phone support for patient instructions, questions, medication refills Understand multi payer systems and their requirements for care and prior authorizations. Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results. Generates revenues by recording billing information of services rendered; completing insurance forms; responding to insurance and other third-party inquiries. Instructs patients on proper education for testing and surgical procedures. Performs in-office GI Testing. Keeps supplies ready by inventory stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
