Full description of the position

Job Summary We are seeking a driven, self-motivated Sales Consultant to manage landscape design & installation, general landscaping and property maintenance sales from initial consultation through post-sale follow-up. This performance-driven role is ideal for a sales professional who thrives on building and managing client relationships, following up on proposals, and closing sales. During the slow season, the Consultant will engage in proactive outreach to generate new business and maintain pipeline activity. Compensation is structured as a total incentive-based package tied to KPIs, including base salary, commission, and annual bonus. Total earnings are directly influenced by activity level, pipeline management, and closed sales. Making this role perfect for someone motivated by results, not a fixed salary. This role is not suited for candidates who rely solely on inbound leads or prefer a passive sales environment. Full ownership of the sales process is required, from consultation through follow-up and post-sale engagement. Compensation * Base Compensation: $45,000. * Uncapped commission. * Plus additional bonus once annual goal is hit. * Hours during busy season: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Weekends as needed. * Hours may vary during slow season / seasonal periods. * Total earnings are tied to performance and KPI achievement; high performers have unlimited commission potential. Responsibilities * Serve as a Sales Consultant for planting design & installation, general landscaping, and property maintenance, acting as the primary point of contact from first interaction through post-sale follow-up. * Actively manage incoming leads and client relationships, including confirming service requests, qualifying opportunities, scheduling appointments, and maintaining a structured calendar during the busy season. * Prepare, present, and manage proposals and contracts with full ownership of outcomes. Every proposal must be followed up on until it is closed or formally declined. * Engage in proactive outreach during the slow season to generate new business opportunities and maintain a healthy pipeline. * Re-engage existing and past customers to upsell and cross-sell services such as plant health care, mulch, seeding, pruning, cleanups, and irrigation installation, as well as other seasonal enhancements. * Adjust sales focus based on seasonal demand and weather-driven cycles, shifting between prospecting, upselling, and closing to maintain consistent revenue flow. * Coordinate with operations and production teams to ensure accurate scope alignment, clear handoff, and smooth execution of sold projects. * Conduct post-sale follow-up to confirm customer satisfaction, resolve issues, and request reviews and referrals. Requirements * Proven experience in sales, preferably in landscaping, construction, home services, or a related industry. * Demonstrated ability to prospect, cold call, qualify leads, overcome objections, and close sales without reliance on inbound opportunities. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to actively manage a pipeline, calendar, and follow-up schedule. * Comfortable working in a performance-based, KPI-driven environment where compensation is tied to results. * Ability to adapt to seasonal fluctuations and adjust activity levels accordingly. * Strong communication skills with a professional, consultative approach. * Experience with CRM systems and sales tracking tools preferred. * Landscape, horticulture, or property maintenance knowledge is a plus, but sales discipline and follow-through are required. * Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally.
