Position Summary We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Transportation Sales Representative to grow our business by securing freight loads and long-term transportation contracts. This role is highly proactive and sales-focused, with a strong emphasis on cold calling, relationship building, and contract development. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in transportation or logistics sales, understands trucking operations, and is comfortable prospecting daily. Experience with government contracts and public-sector transportation opportunities is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities * Identify and pursue new freight opportunities, loads, and transportation contracts * Conduct high-volume cold calling to shippers, brokers, and potential clients * Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and decision-makers * Negotiate rates, contract terms, and service agreements * Secure consistent freight to support company operations * Work closely with operations and dispatch to ensure service capabilities align with sales commitments * Research and pursue government transportation contracts (local, state, or federal) * Prepare bids, proposals, and contract submissions as needed * Track sales activity, leads, and performance metrics * Stay informed on market conditions, pricing trends, and customer needs Required Skills & Qualifications * Bachelor's degree (minimum) or MBA (preferred) in Logistics or similar field. * Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation or logistics sales (required); 10 years preferred * Proven success in cold calling and new business development * Strong understanding of trucking operations and freight markets * Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills * Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and results-driven mindset * Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams * Strong organizational and follow-up skills Preferred Qualifications * Experience securing or working with government transportation contracts * Familiarity with RFPs, RFQs, and bid submission processes * Existing industry contacts or book of business (a plus) Wage Information Base salary dependent on skills and experience. Plus, potential commission bonuses based on special projects, weight percentage and units sold.
