Full description of the position

Job Summary: The duties of this position revolve primarily around the checkout counter (where the focus is on greeting customers, assisting them with and processing their purchases) and the process of pulling, packing and shipping online orders. When not actively engaged with those tasks, additional duties include straightening shelves, general cleaning, clerical work, checking in & putting out new merchandise, and assembling bags & boards for comic books. For a staff member with the right personality and skillset responsibilities may also involve social media posting consisting of text and/or video. Experience and/or knowledge of comics and collectibles is greatly preferred as are basic computer skills while experience in marketing/social networking are also beneficial and can lead to additional hours. What's most essential though is someone who is self-motivated, has an attention to detail, can interact with customers in a friendly, helpful manner, and who is able to handle multiple tasks on schedule while working to help the store grow and increase efficiency. This is a busy environment with several duties needing completion each day and employees need to be able to switch gears from one thing to another without constant supervision and direction. We do not hire often as our staff tend to stay with us for a long time and we typically receive a large number of applicants when we do have an opening so we are very selective. Store hours range from 9 AM - 8 PM, varying slightly depending on the day of the week except for major holidays. Shifts will vary so flexibility is a must. Key days of required availability are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday (although weekend shifts rotate whenever possible). Hours total approximately 20-30 hours per week over 4-5 days with room for growth in both hours and pay for staff members who demonstrate their dependability, work ethic, and provide excellent customer service. Employees must possess the following skills: * Ability to work productively and independently * Attention to detail * Ability to assist customers in a friendly manner * Must be able to lift and handle boxes weighing up to 40 lbs as an occasional part of the daily tasks * Must be able to work standing for a significant portion of an average shift * Ability to handle products carefully to avoid damage * Must be able to accurately and timely process paperwork * Ability to read, write, and speak English Experience/Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred Must be at least 18 years of age Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check Job Type: Part-time Pay: $10.00 per hour Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week Benefits: * Flexible schedule Application Question(s): * Please tell us what makes you interested in this job specifically. * Are there any days or hours when you are not available to work on a regular basis?
