Logistics/Purchasing Specialist Location: On-site - Robert-James Sales, Inc. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Salary: $60,000 per year Job Type: Full-time Robert-James Sales, Inc., a trusted leader in the stainless-steel pipe and valve industry, is looking for a motivated and detail-driven person to join our dynamic team. In this essential role, you'll manage and streamline logistics operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products across our national network. You'll play a key role in driving improvements in shipping processes and cost control, with the chance to grow into purchasing responsibilities as you advance in the role. What You'll Do * Oversee and schedule daily shipments using MyCarrierTMS (including LTL and Flatbed shipments) * Become a subject matter expert in MyCarrierTMS , supporting internal staff with training and troubleshooting * Ensure all Bills of Lading (BOLs) are complete, accurate, and compliant with shipping standards (correct dimensions, weights, NMFC codes) * Coordinate incoming shipments from suppliers for all company locations * Ensure outgoing shipments are securely packed and protected for transit * Collaborate with warehouse teams on ship dates and select cost-effective shipping solutions * Track and trace shipments to ensure timely deliveries * Maintain strong relationships with freight brokers and carriers * Communicate directly with customers regarding freight concerns when needed * Lead annual rate negotiations with UPS and LTL carriers * Manage freight claims processing * Proactively identify opportunities to reduce shipping costs without compromising service * As you grow in the role, assist with Purchasing Department duties and cross-functional logistics initiatives What You Bring * 1-2 years of experience in logistics coordination, dispatching, or load booking preferred * Strong skills in Microsoft Office , especially Excel * Familiarity with freight and parcel industry practices a plus * Excellent organizational and time management skills * Comfortable working under pressure and adapting to urgent shipping needs * A degree in Supply Chain Management , Logistics , or Business is a plus (but not required if you have relevant experience) Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $60,000.00 per year Benefits: * 401(k) * 401(k) matching * Health insurance * Health savings account * Life insurance Work Location: In person
