A well-established provider in the behavioral healthcare sector is seeking a Business Development Lead to drive referral growth and strategic outreach in the San Fernando Valley and surrounding regions extending to Ventura. This role is ideal for a seasoned outreach or sales professional with a strong background in mental health, addiction treatment, or related services. The position involves managing and growing a portfolio of professional referral sources, building strategic relationships, and executing outreach initiatives that support access to care.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement business development strategies to meet defined referral and revenue goals.
- Cultivate and manage referral relationships with healthcare professionals, therapists, hospitals, legal professionals, and other potential partners.
- Represent the organization at networking events, conferences, and community-based activities.
- Plan and execute tours, events, trainings, and in-service presentations for professional audiences.
- Monitor local market trends and adjust outreach strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate documentation of contacts, activities, and outcomes in a CRM system.
- Collaborate with clinical and admissions teams to align outreach efforts with operational goals.
- Provide regular activity reports and performance metrics to leadership.
- Maintain a professional presence in a variety of presentation settings (one-on-one, small group, and larger forums).
- Maintain compliance with outreach budget and marketing guidelines.
- Proactively identify and communicate roadblocks to growth, offering viable solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; preferred in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in sales, business development, or outreach; experience in behavioral healthcare is strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding KPIs in a growth-focused role.
- Strong professional references.
- Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle. Skills & Competencies

- High level of initiative and ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Skilled in building rapport and trust with a wide range of professional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to "hunt" for new opportunities while managing and expanding existing accounts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
- Knowledge of behavioral health conditions and treatment options.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends, and to travel regularly within assigned territory.
- Ability to analyze market trends and competitor activity to inform outreach strategy. Why This Role?
