JOB SUMMARY: The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for leading and growing retail sales performance across three Ambassador Mid-West Floor showrooms, while being based out of the Chesterfield location. This role owns the sales engine in retail: coaching and developing RSAs, driving consistent execution of the sales process, improving customer experience, managing showroom standards and merchandising, and ensuring product selection and presentation support the company's sales and margin goals. This is a "lead from the front" role that combines sales leadership + training + operational discipline + showroom excellence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: *1) Sales Leadership & Performance Management * Own sales performance across three locations, including goals, pacing, and corrective actions. * Establish weekly and monthly targets by location and by RSA (sales, GP%, tickets, appointments, follow-up activity). * Monitor pipeline health: leads, appointments set, estimates, measures, closes, and pending decisions. * Conduct regular one-on-ones with Retail Managers/RSAs (as applicable) focused on activity, conversion, and skill development. * Implement performance improvement plans when required and make timely staffing recommendations. 2) Training, Coaching & Skill Development * Build and maintain a structured training cadence (weekly product knowledge + weekly sales skill coaching). * Coach RSAs on: discovery and needs analysis; presenting good/better/best; handling objections; closing and asking for the business; follow-up discipline and reactivation; trading customers up to core programs and add-ons (where applicable). * Ensure consistent customer greeting and engagement standards are used across all locations, including Ambassador-approved greeting language. * Develop onboarding plans for new RSAs and track completion. *3) Customer Experience & Sales Process Execution * Own the retail sales process from initial greeting to close to post-sale expectations. * Ensure consistent standards for: response time to leads; appointment setting and showroom readiness; estimate/measure workflow coordination; quoting accuracy and presentation; expectation setting (timelines, deposits, scheduling, change orders). * Resolve escalated customer issues quickly and professionally while protecting margin and brand reputation. *4) Merchandising, Product Selection & Showroom Standards * Manage showroom presentation and merchandising standards across three locations: displays are current, clean, and properly labeled; featured programs are positioned to sell; dead/duplicative samples are culled; sample check-out rules are followed and enforced. * Work with the Director of BD on product selection strategy with vendors and internal stakeholders: aligned to target customer profiles, market trends, and margin requirements; supports promotional calendars and core product strategies. * Coordinate with vendor partners on display updates, merchandising support, and showroom events. *5) Vendor & Promotion Execution * Ensure promotions are executed consistently across locations (signage, talking points, pricing accuracy). * Maintain vendor scorecard mindset: display compliance, training support, service levels, claims resolution, and product performance. *6) Reporting, KPI Management & Operating Rhythm * Maintain a weekly operating rhythm including: weekly scorecard review (by location and RSA); showroom walk/standards review; training session execution; pipeline/pacing meeting. * Analyze performance trends and implement action plans to correct gaps fast. * Ensure consistent use of RFMS (or required systems), including: accurate customer/lead documentation; quote and job entry accuracy; order integrity and margin protection behaviors. QUALIFICATIONS: Required * 3-5+ years of retail sales leadership (flooring preferred). * Proven ability to coach a sales team and drive measurable improvement. * Strong understanding of flooring categories (carpet, LVP, hardwood, tile), basic construction considerations, and customer design process. * High organizational discipline: follow-up, pipeline management, showroom standards. Preferred * Experience with RFMS (or comparable flooring ERP/CRM). * Multi-location leadership experience. * Vendor management and merchandising experience. WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE: * Based out of Chesterfield with regular in-person presence at the other two locations. * Weekday schedule with periodic evenings/weekends based on showroom needs, training, or events. * Must be able to walk showroom floors, lift sample boards/materials as needed, and perform showroom audits.
