Full description of the position
Tubular USA Tubular USA, (a division of SPS) founded in 1993, is one of the nation's largest suppliers of galvanized steel pipe and tubing. Headquartered in Chesterfield, Missouri, Tubular USA has an experienced staff with over 100 collective years of pipe and tubing experience. We supply a wide range of pipe and tubing products, both galvanized and uncoated, in round and various shapes. We also provide value-added fabrication services including (but not limited to) cutting, swaging, bending, punching, welding, laser cutting, and special packaging. Position Description: As Technical Account Manager, you will use your interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, sales experience, and knowledge of the market to develop and identify new opportunities for the company that include fabrication with current and future equipment, new products, and programs that enhance the value that we provide our customers. You will be responsible for developing multi-tiered relationships with customers through phone, email, and face-to-face visits. Your focus will be on growing and developing long-term consistent business by setting up contractual accounts, repetitive business, and matching the needs of the business to the requirements of the customer. Primary Responsibilities: * Develop an in-depth understanding of the products, capabilities, and services that Tubular USA offers * Build strong multi-tiered relationships with current and prospective customers * Thoroughly understand customer expectations including end use applications, critical tolerances, and requirements * Use problem-solving skills to uncover solutions to customer needs * Identify, pursue, and close opportunities for growth in high-priority accounts * Enter, track, and trouble-shoot orders in a timely manner * Ensure that customer expectations regarding quality, delivery, accuracy, and follow-up on orders are met. * Collaborate with operations, fabrication, shipping, and management to develop programs and processes to ensure repeatable success. * Champion the solution when we do not meet customer expectations * Collaborate with the Vice President of Sales to develop programs, pricing arrangements, and supply agreements that focus on long term value rather than spot pricing. * Effectively use the company's technology platforms to: * Communicate specific information regarding a customer visit or phone call. * Document customer problems and initiate internal action plans to correct issues. * Track daily sales data and quotes. Physical & Work Requirements: * Ensure professional appearance for meetings with executive level clients * Able to spend long periods of time in front of the computer * Occasional travel required, including visits to the mill, customers, and prospects. Required Background, Competencies & Expertise: * At least 5 years of experience successfully managing and growing customer accounts * Extensive knowledge of metal products, how they are used, and fabricated * Ability to handle complex, high-volume, and contractual accounts * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) * Highly proactive and takes great initiative; proven self-starter; goes the extra mile. * Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan/schedule/set appointments, etc. * Strong customer orientation with proven relationship building skills. * Ability to maintain composure and take ownership of a problem while collaborating for the solution * High learning agility Preferred Background, Competencies & Expertise: * Bachelor's degree in business administration or related discipline or equivalent work experience * Understanding of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment * Experience that included accountability for generating business that met both the volume and margin expectations of the company Why work for Tubular USA? * Discounted Health Insurance for direct employees and family members. * Tax-free scholarship: After three years of full-time work, Tubular USA/SPSCI will assist in college tuition for employee's children (if they are accepted into the scholarship program). * Retirement Fund: After a year of full-time employment, Tubular USA/SPSCI will match 50 cents for every dollar you save in your retirement plan, up to 6% of your compensation. * Health and Wellness: Will provide financial incentives, tools, and professional advice to help you and your family live a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle. * Paid Time Off: Paid vacation and personal time off available to eligible employees.
