SALES MANAGER at A/C HOTEL Location: 125 Front Street, Worcester, MA Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000 The Sales Manager is responsible for proactively generating new business, expanding existing accounts, and strengthening the hotel's market position through strategic sales efforts. Working closely with the Director of Sales, this role drives revenue across key market segments by building meaningful client relationships, executing targeted sales strategies, and supporting overall revenue and profitability objectives. The Sales Manager serves as a brand ambassador, representing the hotel within the community and competitive marketplace while delivering exceptional client experiences that lead to long- term loyalty. WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This position plays a critical role in driving topline revenue, strengthening market presence, and delivering exceptional guest and client experiences that support the hotel's long-term success. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Analyze market trends, demand drivers, and the competitive landscape to position the hotel effectively and secure business that meets or exceeds revenue and profit goals. * Proactively solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through multiple channels including outside sales calls, telemarketing, networking events, social media, trade shows, and industry organizations. * Develop and maintain strong relationships with key corporate, group, and travel industry accounts to grow market share and account production. * Actively participate in revenue management meetings, sales strategy sessions, and business review discussions to align sales efforts with pricing and yield strategies. * Capture and clearly communicate client needs, expectations, and event specifications to internal departments to ensure seamless execution and guest satisfaction. * Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries, concerns, and challenges, ensuring a high level of service and repeat business. * Identify and anticipate changes in market conditions, local events, and economic factors that may create new business opportunities. * Develop, execute, and track comprehensive sales action plans to achieve individual and hotel revenue goals. * Meet or exceed assigned sales goals, including room night production, catering and event revenue (where applicable), and overall revenue targets. EDUCATION REQUIRED * Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED * One to two years of sales experience, preferably within the hospitality, travel, or service industry. SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES REQUIRED * Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through. * Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to build trust and rapport. Marriott experience preferred but not required. * Proficiency in Delphi.fdc and sales systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). * Ability and willingness to conduct outside sales calls and travel locally to maintain and grow client relationships. * Strong analytical and creative thinking skills to identify opportunities and develop effective solutions. * Proven ability to build, manage, and grow a diverse client network. * Basic financial and budgeting knowledge with the ability to understand sales performance metrics and revenue goals. * Strong negotiation, persuasion, and presentation skills. * Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional hotel teams. * Solid understanding of hotel operations, sales processes, and the hospitality industry.
