Pierson Computing Connection, Inc., is a woman-owned technology services company headquartered in Mechanicsburg, PA. We specialize in ProAVL design and installation, AVL installation, configuration services, hardware sales and deployment for our customers located throughout the East Coast. You'll love our vibrant culture centered on our values: Care, Be Honest, Work as a Team. We are hiring one ProAVL Sales & Design Engineer (Design Engineer) which can be filled as a level 1 or 2. Read the requirements for each level carefully. Applications that do not include one or more years' experience in a technical systems design and sales role with strong knowledge of AVL systems design standards will be rejected. Location 10 Long Lane, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. Salary/Wages $48,000-$65,000 per year, plus commission plan. The Design Engineer 1 is a full-time salaried position. The Design Engineer 2 can be filled as a full-time, salaried position or as a part-time, 30-hour-a-week, hourly position. Job Summary The Design Engineer 1 is a client-facing role focused primarily on ProAVL system sales, conducting site assessments, and supporting entry- to mid-level system design. This position works closely with Design Engineer 2 personnel and Pierson project managers to ensure that client requirements are translated into successful technical solutions. The Design Engineer 2 is a technical leader within the ProAVL sales team, responsible for developing detailed and complex AVL system designs in support of ProAVL Sales and Design Engineer 1 (Design Engineer 1) personnel. This role includes client collaboration, design validation, mentorship, and project pre- planning to ensure technical excellence and system integrity. Design Engineer 1 Essential Functions & Competencies * Engage with clients during initial consultations to assess general audio-visual-lighting (AVL) needs. * Conduct site surveys to support Design Engineer 2s in system design. * Assist in developing ProAVL systems based on standard design practices. * Generate quotes, product lists, and documentation in coordination with the sales statement of work. * Process sales orders through NetSuite. * Collaborate with Pierson design engineers and project management teams to hand off successful project packages. * Attend training to improve product knowledge and technical design skills. * Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills. * Intermediate technical knowledge in AVL systems design, industry standards, and products. * Familiarity with Microsoft Office, NetSuite, and CAD drawing tools. * Willingness to learn AVL design principles and improve these skills through mentorship. Design Engineer 2 Essential Functions & Competencies Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Develop advanced AVL systems designs based on client requirements and site data. * Review, correct, and approve bill of materials and drawings submitted by Design Engineer 1s. * Mentor and train Design Engineer 1s on design best practices. * Collaborate with Pierson sales, project management, and design engineers to ensure technical feasibility of proposed systems. * Conduct technical discovery calls or onsite assessments for complex projects. * Maintain documentation libraries and drawing standards. * Participate in request for proposal and statement of work technical reviews and responses. * Advanced knowledge of AVL systems design, industry standards, and products. * Proficient in CAD and bill of material generation software. * Strong interpersonal communication and teaching skills. * Comfortable managing multiple design packages simultaneously. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have direct reports. Design Engineer 1 Required Education and Experience The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity. * One or more years' experience in a technical systems design and sales role with strong knowledge of AVL systems design standards. * Class C (passenger vehicle) driver's license with a clean driving record. * InfoComm CTS certification required within one year from the date of hire. Design Engineer 1 Preferred Education and Experience The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity. * Industry certifications, such as InfoComm CTS-D or CTS-I. * Experience with networked AV solutions and related protocols, e.g., Dante, AVB, etc. * Familiarity with manufacturers such as Crestron, ETC, Sennheiser, Shure, Yamaha, Nexo, Danley Sound Labs. Design Engineer 2 Required Education and Experience The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity. * Two or more years' experience in a technical systems design and sales role with strong knowledge of AVL systems design standards. * Class C (passenger vehicle) driver's license with a clean driving record. * InfoComm CTS-D certification required within one year from the date of hire. Experience with Crestron, Sennheimer, and Yamaha products. Design Engineer 2 Preferred Education and Experience The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity. * Industry certifications, such as InfoComm CTS-I. * Experience with networked AV solutions and related protocols, e.g., Dante, AVB, etc. * Familiarity with ETC, Shure, Nexo, and Danley Sound Labs products. Additional Eligibility Requirements Upon offer of employment, the selected candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test and Federal Criminal History, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record, and Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification background checks at Pierson's expense to determine if the candidate has the clearances required to work in designated facilities. Travel Greater than 50%. Travel is primarily throughout the U.S. East Coast. Out-of- the-area and overnight travel is required. Travel in a personal vehicle will be reimbursed at the IRS mileage rate if a company vehicle is not available. Reports To This position reports to the Director of ProAVL Solutions.
