Job Description Music Travel Consultants is seeking a Travel Designer / Sales Representative with extraordinary attention-to-detail, strong professional skills, and a superior understanding of travel and logistics to join our Indianapolis-based team! You will be responsible for building clientele by working with ensemble directors, booster members, and community organizers (collectively, "clients") to quote, propose, sell, promote, and partially contract memorable group travel experiences. Responsibilities will include timely and detailed communication with clients, customers, colleagues, and vendors; strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills including public speaking; the ability to multitask and maintain an active travel schedule. Travel Designers act as ambassadors and the face of the Music Travel Consultants to our clients and customers during the pre-departure trip cycle. Position is full- time, salary- based with unlimited earning potential through a competitive commission plan, and is Indianapolis-based. We are especially interested in candidates with a background in music education, performing arts, or ensemble leadership--someone who understands the unique goals and challenges faced by student music groups on the road. The ideal candidate is able to connect with anyone, is passionate about supporting the arts, and is committed to giving back to the music education community through thoughtful, high-quality travel experiences. Responsibilities * Possess or develop a strong knowledge of various destinations (location, activities, accommodations, transportation, cuisine, and more). * Initiate and cultivate relationship with clients by meeting with them, listening to their needs, and translating those needs into a custom travel proposal. * Work with vendors to present detailed, pricing-accurate proposals to trip organizers in a timely fashion. Revise proposals based on client input. * Customize pre-generated marketing documents to advertise the trip to prospective customers. Travel to group and "kickoff" the trip by presenting the marketing documents. * Secure foundational contracts of the group package including, but not limited to, transportation, accommodations, group performances/workshops, and live performances which the group is attending. * Prepare the trip for internal handover to operations team. Continue to be a resource and support to the operations team, client, and customers while the trip approaches departure. Approve final itinerary for presentation to client. Travel to group and "departure brief" the trip by presenting the final itinerary, answering questions, and providing support for our travel app. * Assist when problems such as delays, cancellations, weather, and other factors arise on the road. * Create and update electronic itineraries, vendor databases, and internal operating systems * Demonstrate an awareness of package pricing as it relates to basic business principles applicable to group travel including income, expenses, and margin. * Participate in and travel to tradeshows, events, and other functions to represent the company. * Work diligently and competently in a number of settings including from the office and on the road while traveling.
