* The Cashier is responsible for handling customer transactions and ensuring a positive shopping experience. * The Cashier must maintain a clean and organized checkout area to provide excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities of the Cashier * Customer Transactions: * The Cashier will operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently. * The Cashier is responsible for processing payments (cash, credit/debit, mobile payments). * Payment Handling: * The Cashier will accept and verify customer payments. * The Cashier will issue receipts, change, or refunds when necessary. * Customer Service: * The Cashier will greet customers warmly and assist with inquiries. * The Cashier will resolve customer concerns and issues promptly to ensure satisfaction. * Product Scanning and Bagging: * The Cashier will scan products accurately. * The Cashier will apply discounts or promotions and bag items securely for customers. * Cash Drawer Management: * The Cashier will ensure the cash drawer is accurate and balanced at the start and end of their shifts. * The Cashier will report any discrepancies in the drawer to the supervisor. * Returns and Exchanges: * The Cashier will process returns and exchanges according to store policies. * Station Maintenance: * The Cashier will keep the checkout area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies. * Team Collaboration: * The Cashier will collaborate with other team members and supervisors to ensure smooth store operations. Qualifications for the Cashier Position * Education: * The Cashier should have a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred). * Experience: * Previous experience as a Cashier or in a customer service role is preferred but not required. * Skills: * The Cashier must have strong math skills to handle cash transactions accurately. * The Cashier should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Attention to detail and accuracy is crucial for the Cashier role. * The Cashier should be able to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. * Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer skills is beneficial for the Cashier. Physical Requirements for the Cashier * The Cashier must be able to stand for extended periods. * The Cashier may need to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. * The Cashier must have the manual dexterity to operate the POS system and handle cash.
