Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optician Apprentice to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while assisting patients with their eyewear needs. This position requires a blend of optical expertise, sales skills, and a strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy. Duties

• Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescriptions and lifestyle needs.
• Provide detailed information about lens options, coatings, and frame styles to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Perform fittings and adjustments on eyewear to ensure proper comfort and alignment.
• Maintain accurate patient records and manage inventory of optical products.
• Utilize retail math skills to process transactions and manage sales effectively.
• Collaborate with optometrist and clinic staff to ensure seamless patient care.
• Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage, including the importance of regular eye exams.
• Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and advancements in optical technology.
• Experience on Eyefinity software a plus.
• Edging, blocking lenses to prepare patient's glasses, cutting lenses on Santinelli equipment

Requirements

• Previous experience (2 years plus) as an Optician Apprentice or in a related optical field is preferred.
• Problem-solving experience on troubleshoot issues with RX eyeglasses.
• Strong knowledge of optical products, sales techniques, precise optical measurements such as PD, seg height, and Optical center to ensure correct fit of eyewear.
• Read and understand prescription in the lensometer in order to properly dispense patient eyewear.
• Familiarity with medical terminology related to optometrist is advantageous.
• Ability to understand vital signs and basic anatomy knowledge as it relates to eye health.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems such as Eyefinity is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential for managing patient records and inventory.
