The Sales Associate's primary focus is the customer and their experience in our store. Your day will center on creating an environment where the customer feels welcome and happy by making sure all of their Bedner's-related needs are met. Responsibilities * Provides customers with 5-Star customer service, including but not limited to answering questions, obtaining plants from greenhouses, operating the cash registers, and assisting in loading cars. * Maintain a clean, safe, and visually attractive atmosphere by keeping floors swept, surfaces clean and organized, and pathways obstacle free. * Ensure store bathrooms are clean and fully stocked with supplies at all times. * Make sure store coffee bar has fresh coffee each morning. * Guarantee designated areas are stocked with boxes at all times. * Unload trucks when deliveries arrive and tag new merchandise with price tags. * Restock inventory from greenhouses. * Sustain plant health by watering, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, and scouting for pests. * Perform all other duties as assigned. Education, Experience & Skills * Our values match your own life values- Give your all | Reach your potential | Others first | Whistle while you work (GROW) * Advanced horticultural knowledge to be able to assist customers with plant and product selections required. * Ability to cross-train in multiple departments. * Horticulture or Landscape Design degree, training, or previous green industry experience is required. * Computer proficiency required. * Two years minimum of previous sales or garden center experience. * A life passion for horticulture industry, hard work, and enjoying the results! Physical & Cognitive Demands * Labor-intensive work. * Ability to lift 20 pounds or more. * Ability to stand, bend, and kneel, up to 8 hours a day. * Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (heat and precipitation).
