Job Overview Canvassers are skilled verbal communicators who engage the public to market products, solicit donations, disseminate information, or gather information on behalf of organizations. They may walk through or around malls or neighborhoods and initiate conversations with members of their target markets. Responsibilities * Engage with the Public: Canvassers approach and interact with people in person, whether at their homes or in public spaces, to promote a specific message or product. * Present Information: They present information about the product, service, candidate, or cause, often using brochures, scripts, or prepared materials. * Build Relationships: Canvassers strive to build rapport and foster positive interactions with potential supporters or customers. * Collect Data and Feedback: They gather information and feedback from the public, which can be used to improve future outreach efforts. * Generate Leads: Canvassers identify and generate leads for the organization they represent, whether for sales, donations, or voter registration. * Meet Quotas: Depending on the organization, canvassers may have specific goals or quotas to meet, such as collecting a certain number of signatures or making a certain number of contacts. Requirements * Previous experience in sales is preferred but not required. * Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively. * Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed. * A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment.
