COUNTER SALES - ALBANY NY A 200 year old family old fastener business is seeking a new Counter Sales associate. We sell bolts, nuts, washers, threaded rod, different anchors Etc. As a counter sales employee, you will spend the majority of your day taking face to face orders from customers, qualifying their needs, and then getting their material ready efficiently as they wait. This is a fast paced position, that requires someone who is capable of multitasking and willing to learn. You will work directly with a person, or persons, who will train you and demonstrate what is required. You will be trained on our computer software for order typing purposes. Basic typing ability is required. As a small business we work as a team, all employees are expected, and required, to help with tasks as needed. During the winter counter sales staff will keep the sidewalk in front of the store clear of snow and ice, the parking lots are all plowed. Position Tasks: * Assist and qualify customers and enter orders in computer. * Pull, pack, and check outgoing orders for accuracy. * Greet and assist customers with a friendly and warm demeanor. * Assist with end-of-year inventory. * Assist with warehouse maintenance and general tasks as needed. * Gain a basic working knowledge of products. * Participate with inventory at the end of the year. Position Requirements : * Must frequently bend, twist, squat, climb, and reach. * Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 70 lbs. * Must be able to work collaboratively with colleagues. * Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment. * Must have a strong desire to learn necessary skills and computer programs. * Well-developed sense of urgency and follow through. * Shift will be 7:30am-4:00pm Mon-Fri Qualifications: * Must possess a high school diploma * Previous forklift experience a plus * Must have a valid US driver license * Must have reliable transportation * Basic ability to read, speak, write and comprehend English to perform essential job duties. * Abilityto perform basic math including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and simple fractions. * Must be able to read and understand a tape measure and slide measuring device.
