Full description of the position
Great Western Trailer (GWT) is immediately hiring a Truck Equipment Technician/Upfitter to Install Equipment at our Oklahoma City, OK Location. As a Truck Equipment Technician/Upfitter, you will install, fabricate, wire, and plumb new equipment on new or used vehicles in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations and safety policies. Truck Equipment Technician/Upfitters can expect any of the following responsibilities: * Install and Fabricate to fit: * Dump bodies, Flatbed, Service Bodies, Liftgates, Cranes, Van Interior packages, Ladder Racks, Snowplow and Spreaders * Wire Lights, Fabricate necessary brackets, or Weld provided hardware * Install PTO's / Hydraulics, Plumb hydraulics lines as needed * Demonstrates willingness to learn new skills and job functions. Quality check and reporting: * Prepares service reports and any other necessary paperwork. * Examines workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications. * Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures, manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines to ensure quality work. * Communicates needs or concerns in a timely manner in addition to assisting others as needed. Demonstrate safety at all times: * Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations. * Follows company safety policies and procedures and complies with safety standards. * Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Minimum one year installation/fabrication experience * Valid driver's license and reliable form of transportation. * Owns personal set of hand tools. * Broad knowledge equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance; current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems. * Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding; make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects. * Ability to work overtime as needed. * High school diploma or GED. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * ASE or other industry-recognized certifications helpful; welding certification. * Bilingual Spanish a plus. Usually moderate to loud noise levels. Potential risk of electrical shock.
