Position Overview: The Applications Engineer II provides advanced technical support for CNC machinery, assisting customers both on-site and remotely. This role involves conducting time studies, machine demonstrations, programming, and process optimization to support sales and post-installation customer success. Key Responsibilities: * Independently manage application engineering tasks while aligning priorities with team and company goals. * Design and fabricate custom fixtures and workholding solutions for demos, test cuts, and turnkey projects. * Troubleshoot complex machining and manufacturing processes. * Complete time studies and machining estimates with a 10% accuracy tolerance. * Program CNC equipment using conversational programming, industry-standard CAM software, and G-code/macro programming. * Set up and operate CNC machines, including multi-axis and mill-turn equipment, for testing and demonstrations. * Inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and quality standards. * Generate engineering reports, proposals, and technical documentation for internal and customer use. * Set up and program coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) for part validation. * Support pre-sales efforts by collaborating with sales team members to understand and advise on technical requirements. * Train customers on equipment operation and best practices after machine installation. * Maintain regular communication with internal technical staff, external clients, and vendors. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred, or equivalent hands-on machining and engineering experience. * 3-7 years of experience in CNC machining, part processing, and technical support. * Proficiency in part processing, metal cutting theory, G-code programming, and machine setup. * Understanding of metallurgy and material behaviors in machining environments. * Strong multitasking ability and time management skills in a fast-paced environment. * Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences. * High level of adaptability and ability to manage shifting project priorities. * Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. * Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and analytical problem- solving skills. * Willingness to work full-time with occasional overtime and travel as required.
