Trade Sales and Customer Service Manager ARTBOOK | D.A.P. seeks a champion of indie bookstores, museum shops, and gift stores to support our trade sales of the world's best books on art, photography, architecture, design, and visual culture Trade Sales Management Responsibilities Listen carefully to customers and serve as the voice of bookstores, museum shops, and gift stores in our staff discussions; Efficiently research new titles to write memorable book annotations and sales rep tips; Research competitive titles to develop sales projections and target customer audiences for new books; Pique the interest of our sales reps and key customers with vibrant, succinct, and intellectually engaging in-person presentations; Manage our Edelweiss online catalogs and business account; Write monthly newsletters to reps and key B2B customers; Put together targeted collections and title lists from both frontlist and backlist inventory to meet unique queries from buyers and sales reps; Form strong relationships with national and international sales representatives and convey industry-wide buying and retail trends to senior staff; Efficiently analyze backorder, inventory, and sales data in actionable Excel reports; Work with Sales Director, Publisher Services Director, and Operations Director on sales estimates and inventory order quantities based on new title information provided by D.A.P. client publishers. Customer Service Responsibilities Work closely with the Customer Service Team at Ingram Publisher Services to ensure that they are aligned with the needs of D.A.P.'s customer base: bookstores, museum shops, galleries, gift stores, and collectors; Resolve B2B trade customer service issues with clarity and grace; Troubleshoot causes of customer service problems with the warehouse to eliminate repeat problems; Develop and deploy transparent information workflows to catch and solve problems before they become serious; Track hot, event, and "need-by" orders to proactively troubleshoot issues and communicate with all internal and external stakeholders Critical Skills, Experience, and Knowledge Welcoming interpersonal oral and written business communication skills; A knack for problem-solving; A pitch-in work ethic; Innate follow-through motivation; Robust Excel skills (If-Then; Vlookup; Import / Export; Pivot Tables); Broad knowledge of the book business: both bookstores and publishers; Personal engagement with contemporary art, photography, architecture, and design; Vibrant writing skills are not necessary but a strong plus; The ideal candidate has an engaged left and right brain! You are someone who sees meaning in the arts but also can visualize conceptual relationships.
