Description: MERIT CRO, Inc. is a global clinical trial endpoint expert specializing in multiple therapeutic areas. We offer flexible schedules and remote opportunities Responsible for promoting MERIT's products and services in ophthalmology and building long-term relationships with pharmaceutical and device clients and key external stakeholders with a view towards capturing increasing share of sales within the ophthalmology clinical trial market. Builds and leads the team of D2S sales managers for US-based ophthalmology clients. Develops, coordinates, and implements strategies and tactics designed to increase existing business and capture new opportunities. Maintains a broad knowledge of current trends and upcoming development of clinical assets in ophthalmic clinical trials to assist customers in maintaining a need for services and/or products. Utilize this broad knowledge to increase MERIT's brand awareness within the global ophthalmology community, with a primary focus on the US market. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*_(Other duties may be assigned.)_ * Build strong relationships with existing ophthalmology sponsor accounts, cultivating high levels of client satisfaction and resulting in new contracts signed by these existing clients. * Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities with ophthalmology clients. * Proactively curate client information in the central customer relationship management (CRM) platform in support of Direct-to-Sponsor (D2S) sales for ophthalmology. This includes documentation of all interactions, meetings, and contact information. * Support virtual and in-person product and services demonstrations and presentations to highlight features and functionalities to further engage existing, and prospect potential new, clients. * Understand client needs and objectives to provide tailored solutions and work collaboratively with internal operating functions and subject matter experts to ensure customer satisfaction. * Manage and support requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposals (RFPs) communication with clients. Maintains follow through on outstanding quotes, proposals, and contracts in partnership with internal stakeholders. * Develop and implement effective sales strategies aligned with overall business goals. Meet and exceed sales targets through strategic planning and execution. * Utilize market intelligence to position our products and services competitively, as well as fostering internal process and/or technology advancement. * Assist in the development and implementation of departmental processes and procedures. Management Responsibilities * Supervise sales managers and associates for ophthalmology accounts, including developing, implementing, and tracking targets, objectives, and related training programs. * Contribute to and participate in Management Review Meetings. * Interview and contribute to final hiring decision of new sales team members within department * Monitor employee performance and routinely provide constructive feedback and coaching General: * Communicate and collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, contracting, partnership management, quality assurance, product development, and project management, to ensure seamless client experiences. * Provide valuable input based on customer feedback for product enhancements or new developments. Maintains a broad knowledge of product offerings to assist customers in maintaining a need for services and/or products. * Practice and respond with commitment and sensitivity toward satisfying the needs of internal and external customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Education and Experience* : * A minimum of five (5) years related experience and training in a healthcare or service-related environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. * Proven experience in business-to-business (i.e., B2B) sales with a focus on the ophthalmology sector is strongly preferred. * Strong understanding of ophthalmology products, procedures and industry dynamics is strongly preferred. * BA or BS degree from a four-year college or university is preferred. Other Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, ability to follow direction, assess Company needs and work independently. Computer skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office software and ability to learn Company specific software. Must be able to project a professional attitude and image appropriate for the work environment. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to draft reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to participate and contribute to a team environment as a team member or in a leadership role. Oral and written communication is clear, concise, and effective.
