FABRIC SALES ASSOCIATES- 1 Full-time (40hrs wk) 1 Part-time (25 hrs wk) Do you LOVE to sew? We're hiring! Looking for someone who really knows their way around a sewing machine. You should be an experienced sewist who can confidently make your own projects--whether it's quilting, garment making, or both. If you're passionate about sewing and love sharing that with others, we'd love to have you on our sales team. This position requires availability to work on Saturdays. Job Overview: We're looking for someone who's passionate about sewing (bonus points if you also enjoy knitting, or crocheting!). This is a fun opportunity to work in a creative, hands-on retail space where your love for sewing can truly shine. Qualifications: We're looking for someone who: 1. is willing and able to learn our point-of-sale system. If you LOVE to sew, but don't have POS experience, don't worry--we can train you on the register. But passion and hands-on experience with sewing? That's the magic we can't teach! 2. lives the sewing lifestyle--someone who's already completed projects like quilts, garments, bags, and more. You should be confident using your sewing machine and really understand how it works; 3. has Knowledge of Fabrics: understand different types of fabrics, their properties; 4 . is able to assist customers in selecting the appropriate fabric for their projects based on their specific needs; 5. is able to effectively communicate product information and assist customers with their projects; 6. pays attention to detail and accuracy in measuring and cutting fabric; 7. has a level "10" customer service skills with a friendly and helpful attitude toward customers and colleagues; 8. can you work in a fast-paced retail environment which includes the ability to stand and walk for the entire shift, use hands to handle merchandise, lift 25 pounds, have close vision and color vision abilities; 9. is able and willing to learn and grow--this includes regular in-store product training and paid company training session s, usually held in the mornings before we open. 10. is able to to work full dayshifts Tuesdays through Saturdays (Saturdays are required); 11. has reliable transportation or the ability to commute to Seattle, WA location? (We offer assistance with public transit!). 12. with at least 3 years of sewing experience--someone who's used a sewing machine to create quilts, clothing, home decor, and more (not just basic mending or upcycling); What a Typical Day Looks Like at Pacific Fabrics: * You'll chat with customers, answer their questions and hear all about the fun projects they're working on. You'll deliver top-notch customer service by helping with everything from product questions to special orders. * You'll measure and cut fabric accurately, ring up purchases using our point-of-sale system, and make sure each customer has a smooth checkout experience. * You'll stay active by stocking shelves, keeping the store organized, setting up eye-catching displays, and tagging merchandise with prices. * You'll also cut and bundle fat quarters, tidy up fabric bolts, pass along customer feedback to management, and work closely with your teammates to keep things running smoothly; * You'll be expected to work on fun, creative projects as part of the job--such as sewing garments, bags, or other assigned items for store displays, staff contests, events and promotions. While there may be opportunities to work on projects that align with your interests, all projects will be assigned or approved by the coordinator; * Housekeeping is part of the job too--regular tasks like cleaning, dusting, and keeping the store looking its best are shared by everyone; * There's a physical side to the role as well--standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.--as you help out wherever needed throughout the day. Store Hours: Tuesdays through Fridays: 10am to 5pm, Saturdays: 10am to 6 pm We're currently closed on Sundays and Mondays, with the potential to return to our pre-pandemic days and hours in the future. Work Location: In person; 2230 4th Ave. S. Seattle, WA 98134 Job Type : Full-time- 40 hours per week. Part-time: 20-25 hours per week, plus availability and willingness to cover shifts when needed. Saturdays are required for all sales staff members.
