Full description of the position

Job Description As the VP of Business Development, you will lead efforts to achieve new business targets annually. You will transition qualified opportunities to teams that result in revenue-generating bids. Your leadership will focus on specific customer accounts to drive year-over-year revenue growth. You will actively participate in identifying and qualifying potential avionics business opportunities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. You will support strategic planning, market analyses, and forecasting for the DoD and commercial avionics sectors. Your role will also involve leading opportunity capture and proposal team activities, requiring advanced strategic thinking, business acumen, and analytical skills to make data-driven decisions. Responsibilities * Coordinate customer engagements and planning customer calls. * Identify strategic alliances, teammates, and partners for key pursuits. * Participate in trade shows, industry events, and seminars to stay informed on customer strategies. * Travel will be required 25-50%. * Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills * Experience in DoD, aerospace defense, and business development. * Bachelor's degree in a technical field; advanced technical degrees preferred. * Minimum of 15+ years in aerospace and defense industry, with at least 5 years in business development or capture. * 8 to 12 years of DoD marketing experience with principal customers such as NAVAIR, Army Aviation, and Air Force, as well as Tier 1 System Integrators. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Functional expertise in customer-facing business development activities. * Understanding of technology transitioning, product/market development, and marketing/product planning for US military applications. * Knowledge of competitive product analysis and market research techniques. * Superior proposal development/writing and contracting/negotiation skills. * U.S. Citizenship is required. * Must be able to obtain or have an active Secret Security Clearance. Work Environment The role requires full-time presence at the Torrance, CA facility, with additional travel as needed.
