Full description of the position
Overview Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is seeking a Director for the Advocacy and Strategic Alliances (herein, Alliance) team to join their Federal Alliance team. They will be responsible for building relationships with progressive organizations and will support on issues related to intellectual property (IP) and the patent system. The Director is responsible for: * Developing and strengthening relationships with progressive organizations and think tanks to include identifying gaps in the current network and opportunities for new relationships. * Supporting Alliance efforts internally and externally to develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies that strengthen and broaden support for strong IP protections, as well as protect against weakened IP protections in the U.S. * Actively participating in strategy meetings on issues impacting IP protections for medical innovation and American competitiveness. * Developing a third-party engagement strategy to educate national progressive organizations on biopharmaceutical innovation and patient access and affordability. * Proactively coordinating Alliance activities PhRMA-wide to execute successful integrated campaigns. * Generating and executing presentations and updates for internal and external constituents. * Managing consultants, including the quality of their deliverables, timeliness of work, contract administration and board priority issue budgets. * Perform other duties as assigned. Accordingly, the successful candidate should be adaptable, able to reprioritize and shift gears quickly, comfortable in a high-pressure environment and be politically savvy, diplomatic, responsive, and mature. Professional Experience / Requirements * Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred). * 6+ years of applicable work experience (to include health care policy and/or advocacy experience). * Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. * Strong work ethic, with ability to promptly respond to requests. * Understanding of federal health care programs and the pharmaceutical supply chain. * Ability to inspire confidence within the organization and with external constituencies. * Ability to balance the needs of various internal and external parties with flexibility and a steady temperament. * Proficient user of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. * Must be willing to travel 15% of the time and be responsive/available after hours and on weekends. Potential Salary $110,500-151,900 per annum. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
