About the Role: Are you a passionate connector, relationship builder, and strategic thinker? We're looking for a Business Development Officer to help us grow smarter and bolder. This position plays a critical role in increasing membership, expanding community reach, and enhancing brand visibility. You'll work with both existing Sponsor Employer Groups (SEGs) and actively pursue new relationships within our Field of Membership (FOM). If you're a self-starter who thrives in both in-person and remote environments and enjoys driving measurable growth, we want to hear from you. Location: Hybrid (Washington, D.C. Metro Area - Up to 100-mile travel radius) What You 'll Do: New Business Development (40%) * Proactively seek out new business opportunities within our FOM to expand our reach. * Generate membership leads through cold calls, email campaigns, and professional networking. * Deliver impactful on-site employee orientations, membership drives, and financial wellness seminars for SEGs, labor unions, and county agencies. * Serve as a brand ambassador at outreach events, representing the credit union with enthusiasm and professionalism. Relationship Management (30%) * Strengthen engagement with existing SEGs by cultivating strong, ongoing partnerships. * Drive membership retention through innovative campaigns and regular touchpoints with key stakeholders. * Maintain trusted, personal connections with decision-makers across SEG organizations. Team Collaboration (30%) * Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Lending, and Member Services to support initiatives that drive member engagement and product adoption. * Keep accurate, up-to-date reports on outreach efforts, relationships, and event outcomes. * Innovate new strategies to attract, convert, and retain members. What Success Looks Like: * Consistent membership growth across FOM territories. * Strong partnerships and expanded SEG relationships. * Clear, measurable contributions to outreach, retention, and branding goals. What You 'll Bring: * High school diploma required; some college coursework preferred. * Experience in business development, community outreach, or sales. * Strong presentation and public speaking skills. * Natural ability to network, engage, and build rapport with a wide range of individuals. * Self-motivation and the ability to manage time, travel, and deliverables independently. * Solid Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access). * Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. * Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. * Hybrid-ready: a dedicated, private workspace at home with secure high-speed internet access.
