Full description of the position
SUMMARY The National Sales Manager position is an integral part of the success of the hotel's overall room night and revenue from the group sector. The NSM is responsible for working with guest and clients to garner room blocks of 500 on peak or greater, to generate new business opportunities for meetings and conventions at the property. This position requires extensive group business knowledge and has worked in a big box convention/group hotel. The NSM will be held accountable to respond to and generate qualified sales prospects that convert to definite bookings. The NSM is responsible for ensuring that revenue goals are achieved or exceeded for their assigned territory and market segment. This position will help develop and implement plans for sales initiatives to support the mission of the GSR, and reporting of the results of the sales activity from the assigned markets. * ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * _Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:_ * Create and execute an annual Group Sales plan for large meetings, tradeshows, expos and room blocks in their assigned region * Plans and attends major travel functions (i.e. trade shows, associations, sales call) that deal specifically with his/her marketing area including pre-trip and post trip reports. * Organize and conduct site inspections and foster new relationships with clients to grow their market for GSR. * Coordinate and assist with the planning of FAM trips * Respond efficiently to leads generated from multiple sources included but not limited to RSCVA, Cvent and Web Inquires * Lead, development, create, and execute new sales strategies that support the vision of the GSR owners and management team. * Run and analyze new and existing reports and data on relevant sales opportunities to help design a strategic plan, solicit business in their region and provide recommendations to Senior Leadership on business decisions all to maximize revenue * Maintain all data within the Salesforce/Delphi system to maximize the use of hotel room revenue and function space inventory. * Set priorities, hit deadlines, shape deliverables and communicate with leadership on results that can be understood and acted upon. * Analyze new and existing tools to assist decision-making and sales drivers * Maintain an on-going relationship with colleagues, hotel current and past clients * Identifying long-term opportunity areas to improve sales and operations * Maintains a minimum standard of 60 prospecting calls per month to new accounts for future group business. * Complete knowledge of status on all pending bookings always with an accurate 90-50-10 personal report * Meets or exceeds pre-determined productivity goals. * Participates in the Annual/Quarterly Sales Plan Incentives * Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position. * KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES * Experience and success with multi-million-dollar personal sales goals. * Operations knowledge of resort/casino properties. * Strong communication skills, ability to plan and implement action plans. * Working knowledge of Delphi. * Must be personable and exemplary customer service skills. * Must possess interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business contacts and team members at all levels of the company. * Must possess a strong attention to detail and presentation skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and Outlook. * Ability of complex reading, writing, math, and task completion skills is required. * Must have the following skills: clerical, compiling, coordination, analyzing, instructing, precision working, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making. * Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate. * Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. * EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE * Minimum of 5 years' progressive sales and/or marketing experience is required, or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. * Meeting & Event Sales Leadership experience preferred * CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES * Must be able to maintain appropriate Alcohol Awareness card. * PHYSICAL DEMANDS * While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly sitting and occasionally standing and walking during the duration of their shift. * The team member will constantly have repetitive use of both hands. * The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
