GENERAL SUMMARY The District Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing activities within the DSD (direct-to-store delivery) sales team. As the leader of a team of Area Sales Representatives and Merchandisers, the District Manager plays a critical role in the execution of sales strategies, working closely with the Regional Sales Manager to drive revenue growth, ensure exceptional customer service, and uphold operational excellence. The incumbent must be a self-starter, results-driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and has a passion for developing high-performing teams. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. 1. Train, coach, and mentor a team of DSD Sales Representatives to enhance their product knowledge, selling techniques, customer relationship management skills and consistent execution of company standards. 2. Foster a positive, high-performance sales culture focused on accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement and motivate the team to achieve sales targets. 3. Assist with route planning and coverage; run open or vacant routes when necessary to maintain service levels and customer relationships. 4. Monitor inventory levels, delivery schedules, and order accuracy. Conduct regular ride-a-longs, performance evaluations, and feedback sessions. Make data-driven decisions to improve route profitability and customer satisfaction. 5. Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners and store managers serving as the primary point of contact within the territory. Resolve service issues quickly and professionally. 6. Work in partnership with internal leaders to create comprehensive sales plans and strategies, aligning them with overall business objectives. Ensure proper merchandising, product placement, pricing, and promotional execution. 7. Monitor the team's progress against sales strategies. Track sales targets, promotions and objectives, and track performance/KPI's against goals. Present progress reports to the sales reps and management. 8. Identify and follow up on new business opportunities with potential new clients within the territory. Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to maximize sales and increase customer loyalty. Continuously seek opportunities to upsell and cross-sell products. 9. Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES * Work requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees (1 or more full-time employees) including providing input on hiring/disciplinary actions and work objectives/ effectiveness, performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY * Position has limited fiscal responsibility to monitor department expenditures. May assist in the collection of data in support of recommendations for departmental budget allocations. Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience * 5+ years of relevant experience in the industry. Required Licenses or Certifications * Valid driver's license with clean driving record and insurance maintained according to standards of the organization COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES Knowledge of: * Sales strategies and techniques, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. * The assigned product category and the industry trends related to it. Skill in: * Problem-solving and being a customer consultant. * Leadership and experience in managing a sales team. * Strong Interpersonal/collaboration skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships * Organization and time management * Oral and written communication skills * Proficiency in using CRM software and sales reporting tools. * Great attention to detail Ability to: * Analytical mindset with the ability to gather and interpret market data and metrics. * Communicate effectively and be a spokesperson for the company/brand * Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively. * Multi-task and prioritize work POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK * May work in a normal office environment and/or also be required to travel within the assigned territory. * Monday through Friday 8am until 5pm * Frequent overtime hours may be expected during busy times and to meet customer needs. TRAVEL * Frequent travel within the designated area is required. * Occasional travel outside that area may be required. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS * This position is relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards and minimal physical effort.
