Job Overview The Business Development Representative at FreightCar America plays a crucial role in driving growth within our Parts Division. This position focuses on identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities while nurturing both new and existing customer relationships. Beyond prospecting and closing deals, the role emphasizes gathering market intelligence and understanding customer needs to strategically position our services, sharpen our competitive edge, and foster long-term client satisfaction. Combining expertise in business development with proactive inside sales efforts, this dual-focused role is critical to achieving sustained revenue growth and strengthening customer partnerships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned): * Identify and proactively pursue new business opportunities through detailed market research and strategic outreach. * Execute effective inside sales campaigns, including cold calling, lead qualification, and nurturing. * Develop and deliver customized solutions and proposals to clients, effectively communicating value propositions and ROI. * Cultivate and strengthen relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders to ensure long-term collaboration. * Manage the complete sales process--from initial contact through negotiation and successful contract closure--while maintaining accurate and up-to-date CRM records of leads, opportunities, and interactions. * Partner with cross-functional teams to align business development activities with broader company strategies and sales objectives. *A base salary of $65,000 - $85,000, plus commission opportunity. Potential total earnings up to $120,000. Qualifications An employee in this position should have the following education/certifications, work experience, and skill set: Education/Certification: * Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field (or 5+ years of equivalent experience) Work Experience : * 3+ years in business development, sales, or an equivalent role or 5+ years of industry experience Specialized Knowledge: * Results-oriented mindset with a proven ability to meet and exceed targets* Self-motivated and driven, with a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing business opportunities * Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strong teamwork and coordination skills * Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, fostering positive relationships with clients and colleagues * Strong analytical and organizational skills to identify opportunities and manage the sales funnel effectively * Proficiency in CRM tools and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel Job Type: Full-time Pay: $65,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year Benefits: * 401(k) * 401(k) matching * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Paid time off * Vision insurance Schedule: * Day shift * Monday to Friday Supplemental Pay: * Commission pay Work Location: Hybrid remote in Chicago, IL 60606
