Position Overview

The Inside Sales & Customer Service Representative serves as the first point of contact for customers, handling product inquiries, order processing, and daily support. This role combines relationship management and technical product knowledge with the ability to provide solutions in fasteners, hydraulic hoses & fittings, abrasives, cutting tools, and safety products. The representative supports outside sales, strengthens customer loyalty, and contributes directly to sales growth by delivering exceptional service, accuracy, and responsiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactive first contact outbound calling to potential customers through established leads as well as market research
  • Provide outstanding customer service through phone, email, and in-person support
  • Manage and process orders, quotes, returns, and credits accurately in the ERP system
  • Assist customers in identifying the right product solutions, leveraging knowledge of fasteners, hydraulic hoses & fittings, abrasives, and safety gear
  • Support outside sales team with quoting, order follow-up, and customer communications
  • Collaborate with purchasing and operations teams to ensure timely product availability and delivery
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues promptly and professionally
  • Develop product knowledge by engaging with suppliers, reviewing catalogs, and participating in internal training
  • Seek opportunities to upsell, cross-sell, and expand accounts
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelors degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in inside sales, customer service, or industrial distribution
  • Product knowledge of fasteners, hydraulic hoses & fittings, and safety/MRO supplies is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/CRM software; experience with Epicor/P21 is a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Must successfully complete a background check, drug screening, and any other required pre-employment screenings

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, hourly position, typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Additional hours may be required based on business and customer needs. The position is non-exempt, and all overtime is compensated in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position operates primarily in an office and warehouse support environment. The role regularly involves interaction with customers, vendors, and team members via phone, email, and in person. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle or operate office and warehouse equipment, and communicate effectively.
