Full description of the position

Application Engineers develop End-Of-Arm-Tooling for robot applications and automated parts handling equipment suitable for a customer's individual situation and requirements. Essential Responsibilities/Tasks: Use 3D CAD to develop custom End-Of-Arm-Tooling (EOAT) for robot applications and part handling equipment. Maintain a highly organized workflow for ongoing applications and react diligently to past applications. Communicate via telephone, email, and in-person with customers, sales personnel, and suppliers. Price products, assembly, and application projects. Then produce customer quotations and process orders. Responsibility for designing safe and tested EOAT and part handling equipment with properly marked warnings Participation in projects involving Collaborative robots, 3D printing and other side projects as directed. Additional Responsibilities/Tasks: Occasional assembly of EOAT and part handling equipment Produce special engineering drawings and illustrations for catalogs and sales brochures. Travel to customers' plants and facilities Other responsibilities as directed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: This position requires creativity, innovation, and open mindedness for solving new applications, developing new products, and adapting to changing market and customer trends. This position requires excellent oral and written skills when communicating with customers, suppliers, sales agents, and EMI employees. Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience: 4 year Bachelor's degree in engineering is required with knowledge of principles of mechanical engineering. SolidWorks 3D CAD is utilized on an advanced level. Specialized training is required. A high level of proficiency is required. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required. This position also requires using EMI's custom customer/order entry software. Working knowledge of industrial programming logic is preferred. Working knowledge of industrial electrical principles and schematics is preferred. Must maintain a valid non-commercial driver's license with ability to drive at night and to drive for work purposes. Maintenance of automobile insurance to at least state minimum requirements. Physical Requirements of the Position: Physical requirements for the position are such that permit the employee productive use of computers and software; and allow for travel by air and car. Walking of up to 5 miles per day in customer factories can be required. Occasionally, lifting of up to 50 lbs. is required. Working Conditions: When working in the office, hours are from 8am to 5pm with an hour for lunch. This position requires working on a computer for extended periods of time. Air and car travel is required occasionally.
