Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated Applications Engineer to join our technical sales team. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working directly with customers, solving real-world industrial challenges, and supporting the sales process with technical expertise. As an Applications Engineer, you will act as the bridge between customers, sales, and engineering, ensuring our vacuum systems are properly sized, specified, and quoted to meet client needs. You will play a key role in driving business growth by helping customers select the right solutions and building strong technical relationships. This position is based in our Bergen County, NJ office with occasional travel to customer sites, trade shows, and industry events. Key Responsibilities: * Work directly with customers, both remotely and onsite, to understand application requirements and recommend appropriate vacuum pump solutions. * Size and select vacuum pumps and systems based on technical specifications, process conditions, and performance requirements. * Prepare detailed proposals, technical documentation, and quotations in collaboration with the inside sales and engineering teams. * Support the sales team with product knowledge, technical presentations, and application-specific advice. * Assist in customer training, troubleshooting, and post-sale technical support as needed. * Travel periodically for customer meetings, site assessments, installations, and trade shows (approximately 10-20% travel). * Maintain a strong understanding of NES Company's product lines, capabilities, and value propositions. * Participate in product development feedback and market intelligence gathering. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience). * 2+ years of experience in applications engineering, technical sales, or related industrial/engineering roles (experience with vacuum technology is a plus but not required -- training will be provided). * Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical communication skills. * Comfortable interacting directly with customers and working as part of a team. * Ability to travel as needed for customer support and trade events. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with CRM systems is a plus. * Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
