Elbers Garden Center, a family-owned landscape construction company, is celebrating 100+ years of operation! Due to our continued growth Elbers is seeking qualified applicants to join our team! We have one position available for 4-5 days a week at our garden center, and are open to 4 or 8 hour shifts including one weekend day. The job consists of mainly watering and caring for our stock of plants, greeting and assisting customers including loading materials such as soil and mulch, and cashiering. This position lasts through October and then transitions to Christmas tree sales through mid December. The job can be seasonal or potentially carry over to snow shoveling or plowing if interested. Garden Center Laborer / Nursery Sales Associate : Skills: * Some horticultural knowledge is a must, but will train if you have limited experience * A willingness to interact with and assist customers * An ability to manage and prioritize several tasks at once * Must be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly * Experience driving a tractor, loader or dump truck is preferred but not necessary * Work outside in all kinds of weather. Responsibilities: * Regular watering and general plant care/maintenance * Become knowledgeable about the plants, flowers and shrubs sold at the store. * Build knowledge of pruning, watering and fertilizing techniques. * Lift, haul, and organize nursery stock * Help customers load products into cars and trucks * Greet, assist, and answer any questions the customer may have. * Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
