Applications Engineer at Wes-Tech: Job Overview At Wes-Tech, Applications Engineers play a pivotal role in designing innovative, large-scale automated solutions that enhance customer efficiency. With a multidisciplinary background in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, and/or Controls Engineering, you'll tackle complex challenges while also taking on light leadership responsibilities as a key resource for your team. As a vital member of our development team, you'll work closely with customers, ensuring their needs are met with precision and expertise. We are looking for Sales Engineers who are eager to leverage their skills in designing custom automation solutions that cater to our customers' specific requirements. Key Responsibilities: * Design Comprehensive Solutions: Develop and present fully integrated automation solutions to our customers, ensuring all aspects of their needs are met. * Research and Innovation: Review incoming data and materials, applying cutting-edge technologies and innovative applications to develop potential solutions. * Project Management: Oversee the project from initial release to Operations, monitor its progress through to installation, and assess the system's performance once it is in production. * Documentation: Create detailed supporting documents, including quotes, budgets, and layouts, that clearly define the solution for both internal teams and external customers. * Customer Engagement: Regularly engage with customers to discuss new projects and understand their unique challenges. * Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a go-to expert within the department, providing guidance and support to colleagues. * Leadership: Lead the team in the Director's absence, ensuring continuity and maintaining high standards of project execution. * Travel: Visit customer sites for meetings, project reviews, and installations as needed. Success Factors for the Position: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or manufacturing technology * Five (5) years of experience in the design/build/service of custom manufacturing machines or factory automation with working knowledge of machine control systems * Prior work experience with an automation systems integrator is highly preferred * General drafting and CAD skills and experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks are required * Technical writing skills and experience required * Experience in application engineering/cost estimating within the custom automation field required * Ability to act as a leader and provide guidance to others in the department * Excellent communication skills - exceptional listening/presentation/writing skills * Strong project management skills * Must be able to travel locally, overnight, weekend, or internationally We are innovators who function in a collaborative team environment and are committed to our employees professional growth.
