Full description of the position

About the role We are seeking an experienced and driven Sales Director of Municipalities to lead our municipal sales division. This role is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies aimed at city, county, and other government entities to promote and sell our full line of commercial battery electric trucks that can be upfitted to refuse trucks, dump trucks, utility service vehicles, and specialized municipal fleet products. This is a strategic, leadership role that requires deep knowledge of public sector procurement processes, relationship-building with government stakeholders, and a strong understanding of upfit processes and fleet management needs. * What you'll do * Develop and execute a municipal sales strategy in alignment with the company's overall business goals. * Lead and manage municipal sales across California. * Assist dealers in other states with your experience in municipal sales. * Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal decision-makers, fleet managers, public works directors, and procurement officers. * Identify and respond to government bids, RFPs, and other formal procurement processes. * Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to ensure trucks and upfit meet municipal regulations and application-specific requirements. * Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and growth opportunities in the public sector. * Represent the company at trade shows, municipal conferences, and industry events. * Forecast sales, track performance metrics, and report regularly to executive leadership. * Ensure compliance with all relevant municipal regulations, contracts, and procurement laws. * Guide pricing strategy and contract negotiation with municipal entities. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in business, Sales, Public Administration, or a related field; MBA is a plus. * 10+ years of sales experience, with at least 5 years focused on government or municipal markets. * Strong knowledge of the upfit industry and fleet services. * Proven experience working with municipalities, public sector clients, and government procurement cycles. * Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. * Ability to travel frequently to meet with clients. Preferred Experience: * Previous experience in medium or heavy-duty commercial fleet sales. * Familiarity with government grants, environmental regulations, and electrification incentives for fleet vehicles. * Knowledge of CRM software (e.g., Salesforce), sales analytics tools, and government contract platforms.
