Full description of the position
The Sr. Sales Engineer plays a pivotal role in executing sales strategies, expanding market presence, and achieving sales targets determined by the executive team and that align with the Annual Operating Plan. The Sr. Sales Engineer will be responsible for identifying and establishing new customers for turn-key automation systems, mining the Jewett Automation database for previous customers that have recently done business with Jewett Automation, and looking for industrial automation opportunities that are consistent with Jewett Automation's strategic plan. * Roles and Responsibilities Product Knowledge * Comprehensive understanding of all Jewett Automation services and products. * Understanding of Jewett Automation systems and processes. * Complete knowledge of systems and processes relating to all aspects of sales activities. * Complete understanding of Jewett Automation marketing, branding, and overall communication approaches and plans. * Comprehensive knowledge of Jewett Automation employee policies. Operations * Implements go-to market plans to penetrate end markets and applications in alignment with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and as directed by Director of Sales and department goals. * Collaborate with the Director of Sales and other leadership to identify long term industry/market trends and help to align this knowledge with sales goals and initiatives. * Collaborate with the Director of Sales to develop an individualized annual sales plan and forecast that supports the sales organization goals, as well as the overall organization's strategy and objectives. * Executes a "scientific" approach to selling via a clearly defined sales process including customer acquisition and opportunity qualification & evaluation. * Meets individual performance metrics as relates to the sales department goals and company strategic plan objectives. * Utilizes the company HubSpot CRM system effectively to support selling, reporting, and forecasting efficiency. * Provides input as necessary and/or requested to support the company's marketing initiatives and campaigns. * Attends company meetings and facilitates staff meetings as required. Leadership * Participates in strategy sessions with team to determine new or enhanced approaches for systems and processes that will enhance and improve member experience and benefits. * Continuously learns and applies new information/trends, technology, and tools to improve work-related knowledge and activities. * Participates in formal continuation education through workshops, seminars, etc. that are approved and recommended by management and that will contribute to successes in the Sr. Sale Engineer role. * Empowers others to always strive to do their best, set and reach higher goals, and maintain a continual attitude toward growing and gaining knowledge. * Models development by continuously learning and applying new information about work-related knowledge and sales activities. * Desired Characteristics * Passionate about Jewett Automation organizational causes, growth, desired outcomes, etc. * Positive and energetic approach with a strong sense of urgency. * Highly developed influencing, negotiation, and collaboration skills. * Proven problem-solving ability and priority setting, interpreting data to identify problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Team-centric approach- working collaboratively with all functional areas of the company as necessary. * Thrives in a collaborative, team environment as well as has ability to work independently when required/needed. * Effective listening and fact-finding behaviors/activities: ability to extract pertinent subject matters that could be important to the organization, both now and in the future. * Strong relationship building skills. * Self-motivated & action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to sales and business development planning. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills; asks clarifying questions, participates in active listening, delivers clear and concise information, direction, or instruction. * Ability to acquire and retain knowledge/information quickly. * Deep understanding of automation technologies: PLCs, SCADA, DCS, robotics, sensors, drives, and industrial networking. * Application knowledge: Ability to translate customer requirements into technical solutions across various industries (e.g., manufacturing, consumer products, automotive, food & beverage, life sciences, etc.) * Solution-based selling: Skilled in consultative sales and tailoring value-driven solutions to meet customer needs. * Strategic account management: Ability to nurture long-term customer relationships and identify growth opportunities. * Customer-centric mindset: Strong focus on building trust and maintaining client satisfaction. * Solution-oriented thinking: Quickly analyzes customer pain points and provides innovative solutions. * Abilities Required (training, education, certifications, methods of task implementation): * Minimum of bachelor's degree in related field or relevant technical experience and expertise. * Strong technical understanding of Custom Automation in multiple segments/industries. * Ability to manipulate and utilize Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams). * Ability to utilize basic computer tasks/functions (email, file directories, etc.). * Ability to utilize basic Google products (calendar, email, Google, etc.). * Ability to learn and utilize HubSpot CRM system at high level. * Ability to effectively utilize related programs including, but not limited to, HubSpot, etc. * Measures of Success: * Order intake at or above plan levels. * New customer acquisition targets achieved. * Generate required deal pipeline * Daily Up to date and accurate data in CRM system across the sales organization. * Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. * Ability to work on a computer/laptop for a minimum of four hours at a time. * Ability to and availability to communicate via phone multiple times throughout the day. * Ability to travel 3-4 days at a time throughout the year.Jewett Automation, Inc.
