SALES ASSOCIATE & STIHL TECHNICIAN The primary responsibility for all positions with Seright's Ace Hardware is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time and uphold the Seright's Ace Hardware Core Values. Floor associates are responsible for engaging the customer, determining their needs and projecting requirements. This position is also responsible for mechanical duties in support of our outdoor power equipment department. This work on average represents about 10% of this role's time. Seright's Ace Hardware and STIHL offer extensive training and support programs. Responsibilities & Proficiencies * Exceptional customer service skills and a commitment to service excellence * Provide the best possible experience for Every Customer, Every Time by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. * Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, for example actively participate in daily huddle meetings, share ideas for improvement with management. * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations * Strong problem-solving and organizational skills * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks with high attention to detail and follow through * Knowledge of retail computer systems, email, MS Word and Excel * Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business * Solid team player with professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills * Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various types of machinery and equipment (almost entirely STIHL Outdoor Power Equipment) * Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues * Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems * Conduct inspections to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance * Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities * Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, for example actively participate in daily huddle meetings, share ideas for improvement with management. * Assist with receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise throughout the store. * Assist with maintaining back stock levels. * Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise area. * Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad merchandise. * Assist with merchandise resets through the store. * Operate forklift with proper training. * Be professional in appearance and actions. * Perform all other duties as assigned. Education/Training * High school diploma or GED equivalent * Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and components * Proficient in all applicable repair techniques * Possess product knowledge of hardware related products along with willingness to learn Experience * Past retail experience is greatly preferred but not mandatory * Past outdoor power mechanical experience is preferred but not mandatory Physical Requirements The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to: * Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders * Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor as required * Ability to stand for extended periods of time * Ability to hear, understand, and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff and customers a normal in-person and phone conversation * Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, and kneel * Ascend and descend ladders * Ability to work at heights Join our Seright's Ace Hardware store and make a difference in the ultimate success in this neighborhood cornerstone.
