Job Summary The Used Car Manager is responsible for overseeing the used car department within a dealership, ensuring optimal inventory management and sales performance. This role involves leading a team of sales associates, developing strategies to enhance customer satisfaction, and driving the overall profitability of the used car segment. The ideal candidate will possess strong retail sales experience and a passion for the automotive industry. Duties: Forecast monthly and annual sales, gross, and expenses. * Create and manage the department's budget. * Ensure regulatory compliance. * Direct and schedule department employees. * Set and support sales goals for the sales team. * Maintain inventory based on market analysis. * Conduct sales and training meetings. * Enforce product knowledge standards. * Enhance dealership image and customer satisfaction. * Support salespeople in closing deals and ensure Finance & Insurance (F\&I) turnover. * Communicate effectively with the new-vehicle sales manager. * Keep the sales team informed of inventory and advertising. * Identify quality units and enforce the vehicle turn policy. * Appraise vehicles and manage reconditioning. * Plan vehicle display strategies and manage wholesaling activities. * Assist with promotional activities and monitor auction activity. * Approve auction paperwork and track results. * Address customer complaints promptly and attend relevant meetings. * Maintain a professional appearance at all times. * Meet manufacturer goals and Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) objectives. * Establish a clear vision for the sales team. * Engage and motivate the team to achieve success. * Drive business growth through active involvement in day-to-day operations. * Ensure timely and effective lead handling. * Manage Drive Centric follow-up processes. * Oversee showroom, e-commerce, and phone traffic to maximize sales opportunities. * Assist in managing departmental expenses. * Effectively resolve customer complaints to ensure satisfaction. * Manage all aspects of inventory, including sourcing, pricing, and reconditioning. * Analyze sales data, monitor profits, and develop strategies for improvement. * Attend meetings, stay updated on industry trends, and coordinate with other departments. * Desk deals and appraise vehicles daily. * Attend Saturday sales meetings and host additional meetings as needed. * Monitor Vehicle Detail Page (VDP) vehicles and leads, and manage vendor relationships. * Ensure timely vehicle reconditioning processes. * Check pricing and marketing materials daily for accuracy and effectiveness. * Review key performance indicators (KPIs) daily and weekly to identify areas for improvement. * Purchase vehicles weekly and manage wholesale operations efficiently.
