Job Overview As a Precious Metals Buyer, you will be responsible for evaluating and purchasing precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum, and so on from customers. Your expertise will ensure that all transactions are handled with accuracy, professionalism, and in line with industry standards. You will be a key representative of our business, helping customers feel confident in their decisions to sell their precious metals while ensuring a seamless buying experience. A typical day involves customers bringing in items such as coins, vintage paper currency, watches, gold jewelry, sterling silver pieces, silver flatware, and much more. We are looking for an Associate who can work five days a week, Monday through Friday, with operating hours from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. While prior experience is preferred, it is not required, as there will be a training period. The training will last approximately one month, and the pay during this period will be $16 per hour. After successfully completing training, the Associate will begin handling customers independently, with the rate increasing to $150 per day. Responsibilities * Assess, test, and accurately evaluate the purity and value of precious metals brought into the store. * Negotiate fair pricing with customers based on market value and our established guidelines. * Maintain thorough records of all transactions, following company policies and legal requirements. * Build rapport and trust with customers, ensuring a positive buying experience. * Stay up-to-date on daily market trends and pricing for precious metals to provide accurate, current information to customers. * Ensure the security of valuable assets and follow all safety protocols during transactions. Skills * It is crucial that a prospective employee possess the following qualities: Detail-oriented, organized, and trustworthy with high levels of integrity. * Previous experience in buying or selling precious metals is highly preferred. * Strong knowledge of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium, including testing methods and evaluation criteria. * Ability to assess market values and offer competitive pricing to customers. * Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. * Strong basic math skills for transaction calculations.
