POSITION SUMMARY: The Sales & Catering Manager will be responsible for soliciting new catering accounts & groups with meetings and maintaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and/or exceed food and beverage revenue goals. They will plan and execute client functions to ensure customer satisfaction, execute all contractual agreements pertaining to catering events, and effectively communicate the information necessary to successfully execute groups' needs to all hotel departments. This position will work alongside the Director of Sales and the Food & Beverage Manager to come up with new ideas to drive revenue for both standalone catered events and groups with event space. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: *Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication *Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance *Participate in daily business review meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other catering sales related meetings as required *Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers *Attend community/social events and industry meetings *Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers. *Maintain strong client relations and ensure that event specifications are communicated and executed for a successful meeting experience for the meeting planner and attendees *Produce and distribute Catering resume two weeks prior to first day of main group arrival and communicate any changes and updated information to hotel departments *Work with group sales to verify local business accounts for social event potential. Required Skills and Experience Highly energetic and motivated individual Must have strong sales and leadership skills Hotel or catering experience preferred Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong customer/client focus essential Strong problem-solving skills Ability to shift and manage multiple priorities Results driven focus and ability to work through to completion in a timely manner Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products to include, but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook High level of flexibility regarding overtime during times busy periods as required by the business Compensation for this position is a base salary of $42K yearly + 3% commission on total event (meeting room rental, food and beverage, and audio/visual) to be paid biweekly (average has been $8k-$13K).
