Full description of the position
Staybridge Suites San Antonio Richland Hills is OPENING and HIRING! The Director of Sales is responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in his/her market segments. He/she is also responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues. As Director of Sales, one must be familiar with GDS Systems, Psuedo-City Codes and three letter designated city codes. He/she is also responsible for month-end reporting and tracking of account production. Must have thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, and closing. Must be proficient in Microsoft applications: Word, Outlook, Excel, and Powerpoint. Communication and organizational skills are of utmost importance for this position. Education & Experience: * At least 2 years of progressive hotel sales experience in a specific market. * Must have a driver's license in the applicable state. Physical Requirements: * Long hours sometimes required. * Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Mental Requirements: * Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. * Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. * Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations. * Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. * Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. * Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co- workers and guests. * Must be able to work and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions. Essential: * Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, and service-oriented manner. * Maintain regular attendance in compliance with QPM Hotels standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel. * Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with QPM Hotels dress code and wearing a nametag when working. * Comply at all times with QPM Hotels standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations. * Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times. * Ensure that employees are, at all times, attentive, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees. Attend all-employee meetings and any other functions required by management. * Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel. * Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOPs and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies. * Meet or exceed set goals. * Operate the Sales Department within established sales expense budget. * Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled. * Initiate and follow up on leads. * Target results-oriented high revenue potential sales calls to ensure a successful direct sales program in accordance with goals established by hotel budget and marketing plan. * Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market. * Maximize current hotel key accounts by identifying and capturing those that offer revenue growth opportunities. * Meet or exceed sales solicitation call goals as assigned. * Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours, and site inspections. * Develop strong customer relationships through frequent communication and the use of professional, courteous and ethical interpersonal interaction. * Assist in the preparation of quarterly sales action plans and annual budget. * Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property. * Maintain well-documented, accurate, organized and up-to-date file management system in order to serve client and employer in the most organized and knowledgeable manner. * Focus on revenue-producing activity and maximize selling time by dedicating a minimum 80% work time on direct sales efforts. * Develop networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associates, activities, and events. * Attend all-employee meetings and any other functions required by management. * Review Meeting Broker and Hotel Planner to follow up daily on leads. * Perform any other duties as requested by the General Manager or Regional Director of Sales. Acknowledgements: The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All associates must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shift and alter assigned duties as business dictates. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be maintained at all times.
