What to Expect Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Legal Counsel or Analyst to join our global Tax department. Our focus is to create value and mitigate risk to achieve Tesla's purpose - "to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy." * What You'll Do * Support all aspects of indirect tax controversy matters in the United States and Canada, including managing audits, appeals, and litigation * Conduct legal research and analysis, draft legal memoranda and briefs * Provide insight into audit approach and enhance audit-readiness through validation and improvement of information and processes * Strategically partner with stakeholders, including Tax, Trade, Legal, Policy, Finance/Accounting, and IT, to assess audit risk, correct compliance gaps, and establish/update company tax positions * Support the business from an advisory perspective with respect to policy initiatives, legislative and regulatory developments, incentive opportunities, etc. What You'll Bring * 3+ years of indirect tax experience with a law firm, accounting firm, or corporate tax/legal department * CPA or J.D. and admission to at least one state * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Self-starter who can organize, prioritize, and manage urgent and competing deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment * Friendly and respectful individual who can build and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally * Microsoft Excel skills a must.
