Full description of the position

SUMMARY : * Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets * Build and maintain relationships with clients, travel agencies, and corporate partners * Identify new business opportunities and market trends * Lead a sales team, providing guidance and support * Collaborate with other departments to optimize guest experiences and drive sales * Conduct sales presentations and negotiations with potential clients * Manage budgets, forecasting, and financial performance of the sales department * Stay updated on industry trends and competitors to stay ahead of the market * Able to effectively sell and close business opportunities and train others to do the same * Complete and analyze group sales business reports such as but not limited to Group Pace report and Sales Travel schedule, other reports as may be required on weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis * Ensure all sales leads and client contact information is properly input into Delphi system * Attend Group Pre-cons * Entertain clients on-property * Display exceptionally strong negotiation skills with clients, some of whom will require high levels of diplomacy and tact in order to finalize contract * Be active in the community and industry relations by acting as liaison for the hotel; socially as well as business relationships. * Work with key Travel Agencies to generate more bookings. * Uncover and contract potential corporate rate/business travel agreements with local businesses. * Manage Consortia relationships and assist creating marketing campaigns for key accounts * Manage relationships with Key Wholesalers and send and update contracts * Maintain active relationships with key Greater Miami Convention & Visitor's Bureau contacts * Maintain standards for Delphi/CRM database * Develop and maintain relationships with Preferred Hotels group and leisure GSO team * Review processes of group rooming lists, release rooms, etc. * Service Rooms only groups as needed and prepare group resumes * Responsible for room block portion of all group bookings * Exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills, must be able to present self professionally at all times * Lead the following meetings: Weekly GRC review, Weekly Group Pick Up review, Pace Review * Attend weekly Sales Strategy meetings, Marketing meetings, Staff meetings, Daily manager stand-up meetings and other meetings as may be assigned * Work with Director of Revenue Management in preparing group budget and forecasts * Work with the Marketing & Strategy teams to build programs that are relevant, creative and nimble enough to react to market conditions when needed * Work with Marketing to develop presentations and promotions for marketing meeting space, group sleeping rooms and banquet events * Prepare Sales & Marketing Plan * Prepare annual sales & marketing expenses budget * Approve departmental expenses * Update Standard of Operating for sales department as needed. * Attend Credit Meetings as scheduled * Submit expense reports on a timely basis * Send amenities and welcome gifts to in-house VIP clients conducting sites or during group program. * Attend tradeshows as per approved schedule and prepare pre/post trip reports * Review meeting planner evaluations as received to ensure that any problems are rectified * Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies. Will be able to speak to competitors group promotions. * Develop strategies to increase share from competitors when the hotel revenue penetration goals are not being met. * Work with the Director of Catering & Conference Services to achieve banquet and catering revenue goals * Book individual group business to a mutually agreed upon goal within an assigned region * Prepare and/or review group customer proposals and sign off on group contracts on the resorts behalf * Work with the Finance/Accounting department to ensure proper adherence to standards within group business contracts * Create and enforce the site inspection process that delivers an exciting and memorable visit and addresses the client's needs * Provide other departments with proper communication that will enhance our ability to deliver exceptional service * Must be open to a flexible work schedule for travel and may be called upon to entertain clients and host fam trips in the evening hours or weekends * Interview, hire and train team (administrative staff and managers) * Document staff if needed with assistance of HR * Conduct Employee 90 day and Annual Reviews EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree and/or a combination of in positon experience equivalency * 2 years' experience in on property or regional/area Group Sales in the hospitality industry * REQUIREMENTS:* * Physical demands * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear * The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls * Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs * Position may require pushing, pulling, bending, stooping and reaching with hands and arms * Communication * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written with guests, vendors and co-workers * Must read, write and speak the English language fluently * Knowledge of Spanish language preferred * Computer skills * Strong Microsoft Office skills with emphasis on Excel * Prior use of sales and catering systems such as Delphi WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that an employee must be able to handle to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
