Full description of the position

Our client, Dan's Overhead Doors & More, is looking for an experienced Sales Representative to join their Des Moines team in Pleasant Hill, Iowa! We're currently seeking individuals who have a good working knowledge of garage doors and related product s, excellent communication skills, follow-up and will establish a relationship with manufacturer representatives and their customer service staff as a valuable resource partnership. Job Summary: The Sales Representative plays a key role in driving revenue and supporting customer satisfaction by providing expert guidance and product solutions for residential and commercial overhead garage door needs. This position exists to build lasting relationships with industrial and commercial facilities, contractors, builders, and homeowners while delivering accurate quotes, professional service, and seamless coordination from initial inquiry through order fulfillment. * Core Responsibilities* : The Sales Representative calls on a wide customer base, from small commercial firms or farms to large factories and industrial facilities, residential clients, and homeowners. * Identify and pursue leads for prospective customers through various channels to expand the customer base. * Foster strong connections with existing and new customers through regular communication, addressing inquiries, and providing excellent customer service. * Provide knowledgeable assistance to customers in selecting products based on the customers' needs, budget, product specifications, and regulations. * Skillfully negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to secure sales and service agreements that align with Company objectives. * Prepare accurate quotes, bids and sales contracts for customer approval and submit orders for processing. * Follow up with customers to make sure they are satisfied with their purchases and to answer any questions or concerns * Stay ahead of industry market trends, maintain up-to-date knowledge of product lines, and technical specifications and industry developments to adapt sales strategies accordingly. * Follow established collection procedures with down payments, credit applications and follow-up collection efforts as requested by the Accounts Manager. * Participate in sales meetings, workshops, training sessions, promotions, etc., as directed. * Perform customer prospecting activities, attend customer sponsored events, meet daily cold call quota, etc. Maintain master call books. * Meet regularly with the Sales Manager and with other sales personnel to ensure that stated goals and objectives are understood and adhered to, and to share experiences and other pertinent information. * Minimize the liability of the company by ensuring that personal sales activities comply with all federal, state and local laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and statutory requirements. * Achieve assigned personal sales goals on a weekly and monthly basis. Give special effort to selling promotional items and items "targeted" by sales management. Desired Skills/Abilities: * Demonstrated success in a previous sales role, preferably in an outside or field sales capacity. 3-5 years or more of outside sales experience preferred. * Garage Door industry experience desired (not required). * Excellent sales and negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and agreements with customers. * Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with customers. * Working Knowledge of Electrical Components. * Experience as a Project Manager or project management experience is a plus. * Ability to adapt to evolving situations, strategies and market trends. * Organized with attention to detail. * Have a clean, professional appearance. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. *Must be able to effectively communicate and coordinate with customers, branch manager, technicians, and senior leadership. * Strong problem-solving skills, and effective time management skills * Ability to Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen, Background, Physical, and MVR with a Valid Driver's License Required. Compensation and Earning Potential: During the initial training period, for the first 6-12 months, the Sales Representative will receive a Base Salary ($60K - $75K), payable bi-weekly. Upon completion of the training period, the Sales Representative will be paid as fully commissioned (no base salary). As Fully Commissioned, earning potential is uncapped and commission paid is a percentage based on monthly sales and profitability. Each Sales Representative has a sales budget on a monthly and annual basis. The goal is to meet or exceed sales and maintain profitability on jobs.
